If he's overstaying, what possessed him to go to an airport and try to catch a flight? Stupid.

I was wondering about that too. So, either it was an outbound flight via Bangkok, or he didn't have the overstay fine in cash at hand.

 

Makes you wonder, whether the mantra 'turn up at the airport and you will be fine' even applies to airports like Phuket, or only to the Bangkok airports...

 

Something not being told about this story. The guy at the back wearing a red beret is a Thai paratrooper. He has nothing to do with immigration what so ever.
