BANGKOK (NNT) - The Caretaker Prime Minister has expressed his concerns about potential political protests this week.

The demonstrations, which are expected to draw crowds from both pro and anti-government factions in front of the Parliament Complex, have stirred concerns about possible conflict.

According to Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha requested officials to ensure the smooth management of the gatherings. His primary concern is to prevent any faction from breaching the law and to maintain peace, urging everything to proceed according to proper procedures.

Addition, Thanakorn stressed that Gen Prayut wished to avoid escalating national tensions. Emphasizing that Thailand has been working hard to achieve stability over the past 8-9 years, the caretaker prime minister called for a peaceful political climate and progressive movement.

Concerning the selection of the Prime Minister, which could possibly be extended to a third round, the spokesperson said the premier did not express specific concerns and believes the political processes will unfold as per the parliamentary mechanism. In case the leading party fails, the second or third-ranking parties will form the government.

Moreover, Gen Prayut voiced concern over intimidation among some citizens. He said he was apprehensive that such situations could lead to further divisions within the nation and has ordered relevant agencies to monitor and manage the issue closely.

Notably, he mentioned the case of a senator who was targeted online, highlighting how these issues often spread further on social media platforms and potentially lead to more disputes and conflicts.

The prime minister has tasked the cabinet and related agencies with addressing these concerns promptly.

Why would anyone worry about protests when we can all see the wisdom and deep concern with the country's well-being as well as respect for the voters (who can be hardly respected because of their ignorant choices) that comes with this decision to suspend?

You try to steal an election, and the last thing in the world you can expect is a peaceful transfer of power. Didn't you recently say you would "honor" the results of the election and the will of the people? Sir, have you no honor? We think not. If only you would heed the words of others.

Leadership to me means duty, honor, country. It means character, and it means listening from time to time.

POTENTIAL  lol I think they can take that word out of the sentence.  We now that there will be protests all over the country.  The only question is who will be involved.

If the vote goes to a 3rd vote then that means that they have refused the PT member.  Does this government really want the MFP and Red Shirt factions joining forces in the streets?

I actually think Prayut although he disagrees has only a minor concern.  It is the people with the money in the senate that have the issue with losing power.  All those generals that will not have drafted recruits to wash their cars and tend their houses.

Take a look at this list. Few look like decent, responsible citizens. It is like a casting call for the darkest, most evil among the population. I guess that is what the army had in mind. Scandalous, toxic, corrupt, evil army appointed senators. The people need to figure out a way to make their lives a living hell.

Whereas , tanks and soldiers on the streets and rounding up dissenters for re education is not intimidating in the least.

"His primary concern is to prevent any faction from breaching the his law"

However, bending it into a pretzel shape is OK, as long as the bender is affiliated with the government.

Funny, considering that he pretty much single-handedly created this mess. If Thailand blows up, he really doesn't have anyone else to blame.

Prayut is dreaming if he thinks this will evolve peacefully, but I'm sure he knows that already, and the tanks have been ordered on standby already

On the plus side he didn't say that "There will not be a coup". Yet.

He's itching to get the band back together.

But he is no longer an active general, and his faction is not the flavour of the month with the army.

Prayut. “Ah well! We gave democracy a chance but the people got it wrong. Now the military will have to takeover to restore order.”

In which he failed terribly... We all have seen how protests were being handled with watercanons and chemicals, people in jail for section 112, containers, and rubber bullits. For Prayuth the Covid was a gift. so failed agian and progressive movements as we can see this week and today are fake news, as the country will be throwed back again for years.. Shame, Shame Shame

Yes, but he is the (caretaker) Minster of Defense, so the RTA reports directly to him.

As (caretaker) PM, the Royal Thai Police also report directly to him.

Plus he's got the coup experience.

It's all going to plan. He'll have his uniform back on and declare martial law and welcome to coup number 14.

Cant even speak about the real reason all of this is coming down.

Well, if the government and its politicians did, what they were told by the voters, then there is absolutely NOTHING they need to be worried about.

The government is executive, the electorate is legislative, i.e. the government and its branches like police and the armed forces are executive help to the government and the government is executing, what voters voted for at the polls.

Or am I misunderstanding something here again - as so often in the past in Thailäääännnn?

Dangerous speculatory comments discussing the Monarchy have been removed.

No better excuse for another coup.

let’s go!

It would be a wise man or woman who maybe or is involved in these  machinations to remember, ''As ye sow, so shall you reap.'' All actions have consequences.

"The Caretaker Prime Minister has expressed his concerns about potential political protests this week"

As you do when you steal an election to maintain a corrupt dictatorship with the illusion of democracy.

The same question could be asked of Prayuth.

One could argue that those in power during that period are directly responsible for the current debacle.
