You have constantly accused other posters of bias and whinging and yet having read this sorry <deleted> thread in its entirety i do wonder if you have ever heard of the pot and kettle anecdote.

You're seriously embarrassing.

The topic is about the current series.

Your post has zero to do with the topic.

Nice try.

Nonsense!

Sport should be an equaliser. Not one (team) playing fair and the other not.

Morally deficient.

IIRC the Nazis did not invent concentration camps, they copied the British. Not much morality there.

Have the English ever had a moral streak? Only on the cricket pitch I reckon. If we didn't have morals while we were rampaging across the world, we could at least point to cricket to show fair play..

Mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the mid-day sun.

Aussie sport broadcaster Gerard Whateley also delivered a scathing rant when speaking on his SEN radio show, slamming England for claiming to be “moral victors”.

“Seriously, cry me a river England,” he said.

“The bleating coming from the other side of the world – honestly. You’d think there had never been a Test match washed away. And that the weather had never assisted the home team’s endeavours previously.”

He went on to say England had been selective in their memory and said the home team had been “shameless” in preparing pitches that best suited their advantage.

“In defeat they have claimed to be moral victors,” he said.

“They have applied the letter if the law and the spirit of the game selectively to suit their actions. They have whinged relentlessly.

I could not have said it better myself. They have their heads shoved up their own ....... they believe their own bullsh..

https://www.news.com.au/sport/cricket/it-is-wrong-england-is-so-salty-it-hurts-after-fourth-test-hypocrisy/news-story/569d6a27b23263ce3d51d21aa8d3b97f

Seems to me the claim of "moral victory" because of the rain, is rather unique. The British Open Golf 4th day was also played in bad weather, but they played on, and we didnt hear any claims from the losing players that actually they would have won except for the rain. Nor that the internal "out of bounds" were unfair and in the spirit of the game, players whose balls go there should be forgiven. Rules are rules mate!

Wow, some sad comments from Ozzies on here :bah:

There have been 4 tremendous Test matches and it was a real shame this was spoiled by the weather.

2-2 going into the final Test would've been fantastic.

And sorry to say, whatever legacy they may have this current Australian team will always be remembered for "sandpaper" gate.

"We saw you cry on the telly!" :passifier:

RAZZ

Go easy on them Razz. Coming from a country with no history and having given the world Rupert Murdoch they need the occasional reason to crow.

Sandpaper eh? Tut tut.

Absolutely; continually whinging rather than addressing any comments in a logical or constructive way. He won’t even condemn the sandpaper cheating affair, which was on an unprecedented scale; any time it is mentioned, he just deflects with, what about this, or what about that, never once condemning it, or the damage it has done to poor Cameron Bancroft. As you say, rather embarrassing.

how fast the poms seem to forget that in 2005 atherton(former captain) had dirt in his pocket to use on the ball to get reverse swing, trescothick was their  head ball tamperer as well using mints to effect the swing but again thats fine because it is england, poms are so pathetic, cannot handle losing, poor babies, just dummy spitters because Australia simply did what england invented so their bowlers could get reverse swing or they would have had their ar*es handed to them

IIRC, the Maxwell family is nothing to boast about either. AFAIK we haven't had government ministers shagging or being shagged by Soviet spies. Perhaps you are too young to remember Profumo. History can be painful sometimes.

Aren't we getting off topic a tad? Australia won on British soil, wickets doctored to Stokes's specifications. England lost. Bairstow's dismissal was within the rules of the game, something he has done himself. It's a bridge too far to claim that cost England the Ashes.

There's an old saying, catches win matches. I suspect if the two sides are compared, that is the real reason. Bairstow alone missed chances Carey would have swallowed.

Can't argue with that. Totally agree. Bairstow batted well in spells but overall don't think he was up to scratch behind the stumps.

A disappointing end to a very good and even Test series.

All the bull<deleted> on this site from Ausis shows how unsporting like they are.

Maybe test rules should change so  complete days unplayed should be added to further days, so 5 days total is completed, if required

Nonsense. Rain has always played a role. Both teams a week out knew rain was forecast. Draws are rare in sports. Adds to intrigue.

Vaughan was captain in 2005. Atherton cheated in the 1990s.

Off topic rant. The topic is about the current series which you have failed to talk about.

Yes they keep deflecting. England made the following errors

1 declaring on day 1

2 picking unfit Bairstow

3 crazy batting in test 2

Thats why they lost.

Different set of rules for you is it ?

Are you gonna take your ball home and not let anyone else play, unless they play to the rules that you dictate, but fail to adhere to yourself ?

No you guys brought up the topic of tampering not me. Just reminding you of the facts. All the deflection and cherry picking is amusing. All nations have done it.

Trescothick in no way portrayed his actions as those of a rogue operator. Rather, he gave the impression the whole team was in on it, that it was systematic tampering. This is the same team that was feted again and again this series by commentators and fans.

Feted for their skill. They didn't actually get caught. ????

Not like Steve Smith, who had strips of this sticking  out of his pockets after a trip to B & Q.

So you are saying the English cheats are much better at it? One way to put it. World champion cheats.
