Member signatures temporarily disabled

Signatures (at bottom of all member posts) are currently disabled as per today July 27.

Reason: Several members are abusing their signatures to post links, memes and content that is not suitable for Google indexing. We really have got a signature spam problem.

For the time being, ALL signatures have been disabled, spammy or not.

We will revise the forum rules to this effect.

Instead of a blanket ban, why not deal with each case individually?

Signatures penalize this website’s visibility in search engines as it’s considered duplicate content. Also other SEO issues.

Feel free to add your memes etc in your member profile instead.

In your account you can write something to go at the bottom of all your posts, similar to setting your signature at the bottom of emails, hence the name.

I guess the intention is to put your nickname or a sort feel good type of quote.

Sounds like some have been using this option to further their agendas.

Luckily it is also an option to see or not see others signatures .
