Thailand Extends No Entry Card Policy to Boost Tourism Recovery
In an effort to further invigorate its tourism sector, the Thai government announced the continuation of the "cancelling the entry card" policy for Chinese tourists until April 2025. This initiative, confirmed on 15th October, allows Chinese nationals to enter Thailand without filling in the TM.6 entry card, aiming to simplify the entry process at 16 border checkpoints. The move comes amidst flourishing non-governmental and business exchanges between China and Thailand, following the visa exemption agreement introduced in March of this year. Chinese tourism is significantly propelling Thailand's economic resurgence, with visitor numbers reaching a remarkable 5.25 million by early October, outpacing other overseas tourists. October's "Hello Month" campaign offering exclusive deals in select shops has further attracted Chinese visitors, leading to a substantial increase in tourism-related revenue. During China's National Day "Golden Week," over 160,000 Chinese tourists visited Thailand, a 34% rise from the preceding week. With the Tourism Ministry's reassurance of visitor safety, this policy extension is expected to boost the local economy by easing customs procedures. Additionally, Thailand seeks to bolster bilateral ties with China on multiple fronts, promising future benefits for both nations under a shared vision for prosperity. Poisoned justice: CSD to wrap up cyanide serial killer cases
The Crime Suppression Division (CSD) officers reported today that they would submit the summary of the 14 cases that rocked Thailand involving the cyanide serial killer. The CSD revealed today, October 17, that they would present the summary to the prosecutor by the end of October. The suspect is expected to be sentenced for one major case in November. The suspect in the well-known Thai case, Sararat “Am” Rangsiwuthaporn, also known as Am Cyanide, is currently imprisoned at the Central Women’s Correctional Institution in Bangkok, facing accusations of 14 murders and 1 attempted murder. The serial killings came to light after the family of Siriporn “Koy” Khanwong grew suspicious about the cause of her death and suspected Sararat’s involvement. Koy was captured on CCTV collapsing at a pier within a temple in the central province of Ratchaburi and later died. Koy’s missing car and valuables, together with the discovery of cyanide in her system, strengthened the family’s suspicions of foul play. A woman resembling Sararat was also spotted on security camera footage. Following Koy’s case, more families came forward seeking justice, claiming Sararat was involved in the deaths of their relatives. Cyanide was found in the systems of almost all the victims. One woman reported that she was also targeted by Sararat but managed to survive the poisoning. Some 15 victims were reported with only one survivor. All the victims had financial connections with Sararat—some were her debtors, some participated in her kitty fund, and others were involved in business dealings with her. Police examined multiple pieces of evidence and questioned more than 900 people. Only Koy’s case was submitted to the court, while the other 14 cases remain under investigation. As it stands, Sararat is still legally innocent, as the court has not yet concluded its deliberations or issued a verdict. Recently, Sararat’s parents threatened to take legal action against anyone or any media outlet referring to their daughter as Am Cyanide, asserting that she is still presumed innocent. The Commander of the Royal Thai Police (RTP), Kittirat Phanphet, attended a meeting on the case at the CSD office today, where officers reportedly agreed that Sararat was guilty of all the cases. They plan to review all the evidence and related documents before submitting the case summaries to the court for further proceedings. As for Koy’s case, which is already under court consideration, Sararat is required to attend a hearing on November 20 to hear the sentencing. I think that's a fair enough assessment. It was not a good performance but not as catastrophic as some say. I don't think many people thought "wow, I'm going with Kamala" as a result. Where I don't agree is that everyone has made up their minds. Aggregate is around 3.5% of the voting population. They can swing any battleground state. There's an even bigger coterie of Silent Trump voters. But I maintain by far the biggest coterie of voters are those who cannot stand Trump. If Harris wins this election it will be anti-trump hatred that hands her the White House. -

A female vocational student from Nakhon Si Thammarat sought media assistance after her mobile phone was hacked, leading to the unauthorised opening of a mule account in her name, resulting in two police summonses being sent to her home, raising concerns about her studies. Somnuk and Oranong Thongsuk reported to the media that their daughter, Natnaree Thongsuk, a student at a vocational college in Thung Song, Nakhon Si Thammarat, fell victim to scammers who used her name to open a bank account at Krungsri Bank’s Thawang branch. This incident has caused significant distress as Natnaree now faces charges without her knowledge, with summonses from Srimahaphot Police Station and Klongluang Police Station. Two victims, Janchira and Chanida, alleged that they transferred approximately 700,000 baht (US$21,075) to a securities firm through Natnaree’s account. Natnaree explained that she lost her phone at Namtok Yong in Thung Song. The phone contained copies of her ID card, documents, and various video clips. She received a court summons at her home on September 18 from Srimahaphot Police Station, followed by another on October 10 from Klongluang Police Station. She then filed a police report and contacted Krungsri Bank, where staff showed her documents indicating she had opened an online account, which she denies ever doing. “I am deeply affected by this incident. Travelling to give statements is challenging due to the long distances involved, and my parents, who are gardeners, find it difficult to manage the travel. I contacted both police stations for assistance, but they insisted I must appear in person. This has led me to seek justice through the media.” Mule account Oranong, Natnaree’s mother, added that upon receiving the court summons, she questioned her daughter, who denied any involvement. They filed a daily report at Thung Song Police Station and gathered evidence from the college, proving that Natnaree was in class when the account was opened. This suggests that her lost phone might have been hacked to open the mule account. The family is particularly distressed about the need to travel long distances for statements, which also disrupts Natnaree’s studies, reported KhaoSod. Phasuk Petchara, head of the disciplinary department at the college, affirmed that the institution is ready to support Natnaree in all aspects. If Natnaree needs to travel to provide statements, the college will coordinate with her lecturers to offer online classes.
