Middle Eastern Tourists Pose Policing Challenges in Pattaya

From a case involving a group of Middle Eastern tourists who rented cars and caused disturbances in Pattaya city, the local authorities are grappling with the situation.

 

The group's reckless driving, loud engine revving, and aggressive behavior have caused disruptions for both local residents and other motorists. Relevant agencies are working to address these issues, reported Siam Rath.

 

Local reporters visited the Middle Eastern residential areas in Pattaya, such as soi VC and soi Yen Sabai.

They observed that although some Middle Eastern drivers still operate vehicles during the day, most of their activities occur from evening to midnight, often leading to altercations and accidents.

 

Representatives from car rental businesses expressed their challenges, stating that the behavior of some Middle Eastern customers has led to problems.

 

Rental businesses emphasize proper documentation and agreement reading, including wearing helmets and not engaging in dangerous driving.

Local community leaders mentioned efforts to cooperate with law enforcement and discussed the need for long-term solutions.

 

Statistics show law enforcement efforts from July 14 to August 8, with 611 violations, 159 confiscated cars, 103 owners fined, and 31 cars yet to be claimed. Authorities are also evaluating the number of rental cars per business for comprehensive solutions.

Whilst I don't condone this kind of anti social behaviour, Thais are just as bad. We have many in our little village causing mayhem and in addition to Thais being the worst drivers in the world I have seen the local Police actually facilitate these drag races. So grapple with the locals also.

How hard can it be to just deport them? why are they not doing it? these are young worthless types who bring little financial benefit yet cause much more trouble than they're worth.

Implement a system similar to Phuket's 2 strikes and you're out, and enforce liberally. Thailand will not misss these hooligans.

Two policemen at the end of each Soi stopping anything on the road that is illegal.. 

it's called policing.

Unfortunately you can't deport Thais for bad behavior. Certainly we don't want foreigners pouring in and adding to the problem. And I'll add that in my 10 years here most of the idiot drivers that I've seen have been tourists.  But I don't live in your village, every place is going to have its local color. I will will not say that every "crazy" Thai driver is equally dangerous, some of them are more like stunt drivers, and know what they're doing.

they could start by clamping down on the rental shops, every man and his dog has bikes for rent where i live, i know they are supposed to, a friend of mine has been fined twice, 

 

We had an inquiry last week, the guest asking could we rent a bike for them as they dont have a license, not a chance,

It's probably not hard at all, but they have money to spend, and Thailand wants and needs their money. The motorbike rentals need their money. And though your bigoted view may be that they're all "young worthless types" the reality is that each person is an individual, neither all bad nor all good, and this is a manageable nuisance. How to manage it, and what value to place in their tourism, is up to the Thai police and immigration, and they are entitled to make their own judgments, free of bigotry. They may be immature and bad behaved, perhaps can't hold their liquor, but there are no more "worthless"  than any other ethnic group of misbehaving tourists.

They have been at it elsewhere and at a different schedule.... passed through checkpoints on the railway line, under the motorway flyover, twice this week. Not looking to bother a falang with a helmet on though.

I've said it before, more speed bump in that area, and more police checkpoints.  Tell the bike rental shops to increase the security deposits and when violators are caught, confiscate their bikes and send them down to the police station and have one slow cop that takes a lot of breaks working the fine desk.

I think the locals realised they have more money than most broke ass farangs. Money is object number one in Pattaya. Not many are working in Pattaya for love of the job.

Simply put, they came to Thailand to do what they can't do in their respective countries, to let their greasy hair down by misbehaving, being muslims, they can't drink of visit houses of ill repute though no one really knows what they do behind closed doors, there several ways to deal with them but the RTP, for some reason, not being tough enough by pussy-footing around  those guys.

Why is it difficult for police to actually do the job they were hired for.....does not matter if it is arabs, indians, brits or whoever.....just do your job!

Many of us on this board we understand the problem because we have and seen the choices and solution. Today many of the problems in the West particularly in the U. S. is due to defunding of police and political philosophy.

It applies here evident why so many simple problems can't be solved to solve a problem you must have an alternative that alternative doesn't exist never been taught can't teach or fix what one doesn't know. 

The system of corruption is embedded everywhere there are clear rules as to problems but you got 72 provinces hundred of district hundreds others out of greed applying their own standards so they can fund themselves not solve problems for the people. 

The system is to react to the problem not prevent rules are made bit no follow up. Enforcement is having follow ups something term Ghost customer to visit these businesses and pose as renters to confirm if rules being put forth are followed. 

First offense a warning a large enough fine to create enough doubt to make people have second thoughts this principal applies to everyone. Thereafter if it continues the business is closed if continue the penalty increases until the message sticks.  

Here what comes out of the authorities mouth is as hot as smelly as some of Soi drains enforcement here is nothing more standing around looking for a payout. 

The problem starts and ends on Soi 9,  when I read the Chon Buri Head gets on his soapbox box " order to take care of problem " that is part of problem.  Get you butt out and do it yourself!

Whilst I agree with your sentiment, Muslims do drink alcohol and do visit houses of ill repute. I have worked in several Muslim countries, Indonesia, Iran, KSA,. They are not supposed to drink, but when they are out of their country they do imbibe!

Certainly agree why the RTP cannot deal with these perps more severely!
