Pheu Thai appears to be getting close to commanding a majority in Thailand’s 500-seat House of Representatives House.

Pheu Thai gained momentum when the Bhumjaithai party, of Anutin Charnvirakul, which won 70 House seat, appeared at a joint press conference to declare that they would be at the core of forming the governing coalition.

Combined, the two parties initially commanded 212 House, plus another 16 held by the Prachachat, Thai Liberal, Chart Pattana Kla, Pheu Thai Rumphalang, Plung Sungkom Mai and Thongthee Thai parties, bringing the current total to 228.

The closer they get the more votes they will lose at the next election. They have betrayed their voter base. They are no longer a people's party. They are now in bed with the elitists. Doesn't matter what populists things they come up with this betrayal will not be forgiven.

That's completely ridiculous. Have you ever voted for the winning party and then been mad that they won?

I have a hard time seeing this working out for them in the long term but who cares, their master got what he wanted.

I'm only a long term guest here, watching Thailand squabble in government is laughable...

So you think PT voters are happy that their party is now in league with those they wanted ousted?

Yes as it is generally better to win than lose.

The winners lost and the losers once again win.

Like it happened with TRT and PTP when they won landslide but still lost in the end. Finally you understand the Thailand political shenanigan. Well done.

I have been here for 20 years which obviously includes both the 2006 and 2014 coups and the bent 2019 election and it's aftermath which saw the junta 'legitimise' its power, disolve it's opposition (FFP) and put in place measures to maintain authority to wit we are seeing the consequences. I am well aware of the political landscape here.

The people of Issan knew exactly who they were voting for. Thaksin, whose parties have won every legit election since 2001. I think it is the Junta coalition party's voters who will be more upset at their members for voting in a PTP member as PM.

That's an issue which tends to be neglected in this forum.

Supporting a PTP dominated government, after making a coup to get rid of it, is surely not a popular initiative among yellow folks and Junta lovers.

Well said

Those who voted for PT wants PT in power and formulate policies that make their lives better. They want Thaksin back too

all their boxes are ticked

This is what they voted for..

Under the policy, the 10,000-baht handout would be transferred to the digital wallet of the recipients who can spend the amount at local businesses within a 4-kilometre radius of their registered address. The digital cash handout must be utilised within six months.

So hilarious, really. All the know-all lefties on this forum were (until recently) crowing about how this time would be different, and that the US stooge Pita would be the next PM. Well, this time isn't different, as I said all along.

Thailand is run by mature adults, who look with horror at the degenerate west and have kept Thailand on track, this time by giving those MFP socialists the heave ho. Pheu Thai will be kept under control too, just as they always have been.

I can't stop laughing, reading all the frothing lefties here ranting and raving. May the Buddha bless conservative Thailand.

Maybe, more to the point is the lack of ethics and morals of the senators.

They didn’t vote for the people - they voted for the policies.

Have you ever been betrayed and then been happy with those that betrayed you?

PTP will get the PM slot but then it will be a sh*t show when the fighting starts for the cabinet positions.  Prawit may not get a cabinet slot, but he's been assured his brother will (keep the corruption in the family).

Does PTP really think all the junta in their coalition will let them makechanges to the military?  Maybe they'll let some small modifications go through, but nothing substantial.  And all the family monopolies / duopolies won't change so the younger generation gets screwed again (until the OLD dinasoars die).

And all this just so PTP will get Thaksin back ....

If you think PT forming government is a victory, you my friend, know very little.

People were saying what you're saying nearly two decades ago. PT government won't last because it's run by Thaksin. They'll be thrown out in short order like the last few times, and a proper government will be installed.

I can't stop laughing. It's really so funny how you all thought this time was different. It wasn't.

So, for you, being for democracy means being a "leftie"! ????

Two decades ago conservative nutters were obsessed with getting Thaksin out of the country, nowadays those same conservative nutters are bent over with their trousers down begging Thaksin to come back and have his way.

Things change.

So laugh it up while you can because the penny shall soon drop for all the conservative nutter sycophants as they slowly realise that it’s over for militarism, despotism and dictatorship in Thailand.

Tomorrow belongs to the youth and they have chosen democracy, freedom, liberty and the West.
