So hilarious, really. All the know-all lefties on this forum were (until recently) crowing about how this time would be different, and that the US stooge Pita would be the next PM. Well, this time isn't different, as I said all along.

Thailand is run by mature adults, who look with horror at the degenerate west and have kept Thailand on track, this time by giving those MFP socialists the heave ho. Pheu Thai will be kept under control too, just as they always have been.

I can't stop laughing, reading all the frothing lefties here ranting and raving. May the Buddha bless conservative Thailand.

You have a... let's call it peculiar understanding of society and politics. Has a touch of far right american ideology that has proven so extremist and destructive.

Sources from Pheu Thai-led coalition parties said parties demand that Pheu Thai allow current cabinet holders to keep their exact portfolios for the sake of the continuity of work and they prefer Paetongtarn Shinawatra as PM over Srettha Thavisin

Ah, that didn't take long: another NYT/CNN desciple who smears everything he doesn't understand - traditional conservatism in this case - as "far right", because he's only capable of seeing things through the lens of Biden vs Trump (both are equally despicable, akin to two cheeks of the same arse, by the way).

I neither read the NYT nor CNN. Not sure why you said I would. I'm also not american. Further not sure why you bring in Biden vs Trump into a topic of Pheu Thai and them trying to form a coalition to gain house majority. But that's exactly what I ment. This far right US politics thinking that has to fit everything into that box... it's out of place here. You called Pita a US stooge. You called the west degenerate. You have NYT/CNN in your head. You are thinking of Biden vs Trump. Nobody else mentioned this stuff.

Thai politics are very very different from US or other western politics. Different rules, different dynamics and different history. There is a huge generational divide in this country which has a big influence on the political landscape. There is also a lot of baggage of power plays with military coups and billionaires duking it out. But whatever political leaning one has I think it's not OK if vast parts of society are denied having their representatives be part of the government even though their party got the most votes. It's just undemocratic.

You said the above. If not Trump, then whom were you referring too? Why did you bring Americal politics into the discussion in the first place, only to then say that you had no interest in it? "Far right", which conjours up images of violent skinheads among other things, is a smear commonly used by lefties to smear people who are traditional conservatives and who wouldn't hurt a fly.

I said what I said in response to your comment about Pita being a US stooge and calling the west degenerate and the comment about MFP being "socialists". That plus all the talk about "lefties". These are words one often sees spouted in the extreme right US scene. Similarily the "left" vs "right" divide. Nobody in Thai politics talks about a split like that. Those are the reasons why I noted it. I didn't bring the US into this, I posted in reaction to your comments.

None of the above is going away, fortunately, otherwise Thailand would turn into a version of the ghastly west and lose it's charming culture and traditions. The young, by the way, have no idea what they're talking about, which is why the Senate is there: the word Senate is derived from the Latin word senex or old man, with age comes wisdom, gained from life experience, rightfully conferring veto over immature young folk who just want to tear thing down in the name of their so-called "progress". Thank God for the Thai Senate, and its moderating influence.

This shows exactly why I think you have a problem with how democracy is supposed to work. You completely deny the right to be represented in governement for a huge and important chunk of the country - the future of the country! Don't you see that? Why not up the minimum required voting age to something more to your liking like say... 40? When does one obtain the required wisdom to be able to make the right decisions?

On the flip side can I ask people over 70 to be excluded because many have declining cognitive capacity? Maybe we could also exclude anyone who had some kind of mental issues or similar disability. Oh and of course you got to have proper education to understand how a country works.

Yea, yea, let's exclude the young, the old, the disabled and the poorly educated. To ensure that, we could put in place a selection commitee. Let's pick a few people by hand who will wield outsized power and ensure things continue like traditions intended to. If they don't like that then I'll show them the stick, eh the gun. We are doing that for their own good!

And while you're on, tell me how the west is "democratic" these days.

What issues other countries are facing has no bearing on how Thailands politics should work. You seem to have been scarred by the west somehow as your mind wonders there so much.

There's nothing new here that we haven't covered in our previous exchange. Enjoy the rest of your day.

Politics as pure, distilled moonshine. 'High crimes & misdemeanors' is the name of the game and it's the only game in town.

Interesting word, 'misdemeanor'. It's actual definition is 'minor wrong-doing' (according to the Websters Dictionary site I just accessed to check the spelling), and am therefore wondering who might be thought to have commited the high crimes and who are responsible for those apparently less serious misdemeanors. But I see no distinctions, when all of this horrid sham is squashed together in one vile-smelling pile of s*yte that it is........to make that call.

From the apex of TH power....to all the morally sick, equally responsible, unprincipled SOB's doing the apex's bidding, seeking self-gain at ALL cost, I now sadly bear witness to the the most truly tragic turn of events I've seen in my 3 decades+ here. ????????????????
