Thai researchers develop country's first prototype fuel cell-powered electric vehicle

12 July 2007

A group of local researchers in Thailand have created the country's first prototype electric vehicle powered by fuel cell technology, it has been revealed.

The scientists from the electromagnetic compatibility lab at King Mongkut's Institute of Technology at Lad Krabang (KMITL) worked with the National Metal and Materials Technology Centre and the Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology to achieve the breakthrough, and were led throughout the project by KMITL's vice president Weerachet Khanngern.

well done .

Since there has been no posts here thought I would add something to it. We are also doing fuel cell research at Chiangmai University in collaboration with Engineering, Chemistry and MTEC (above Center). My responsibilities are designing the hardware/software control systems for it. The first image is of a small portable cell for demonstration purposes. The 2nd & 3rd picture are of our development and data analysis test station. Currently working on a 300 Watt standalone system that will generate 220VAC from the 12VDC fuel cell stack + several other DC voltages for miscellaneous devices. 2nd generation will be a 1000 Watt system. We had/have plans for possibly a fuel cell powered bicycle and tuk-tuk. :o
