'bout time for a dress code and proper haircut for bar girls in compliance with law and order.

I am all for a dress code for bar girls. There needs to be a proper consultation. I hold myself ready to put forward some well thought through suggestions...

Charged under The scout act 2008. :cheesy:

Might as well get some use out of the uniforms they were forced to buy at school. So no girl guides anymore? only scouts, dip dip dob dob.

Was wondering the same thing. What is the crime? I wonder under which statute they were arrested. What about Playskool at Nana Plaza where the ladies dress like school girls?

50 years in the general slammer, no private hospital suite with not one but two fans ....... the works!

The BiB deserve a medal, or give 'em two for a really good job done.

What do people think happens in these karaoke dungeons? The main money spinner is neither booze nor singing - me thinks ????

And school uniforms are taken off so much faster than all that fancy stuff; after all the girls have spent years in these terrible outfits which combine dreadful designs, the poorest of poor fabric quality with unmet high pricing!

How about one of these medals?

It's illegal.

Military coups are illegal as well but that doesn't stop them happening.

Riding a motorbike/driving a car without a licence

Riding a motorbike with no helmet

Riding a motorbike with 3 or more up

Prostitution

Gambling except the legal lottery

Begging

Bribery

Corruption

ALL of these are illegal plus many more yet they happen on a daily basis.

Merely saying that it is illegal without doing something, is akin to King Knut demanding that the tide stop coming in.

How about just because they are Scouts?   Are the Scouts in your country being trained for the military?

Scouting in most countries worldwide is voluntary. In Thailand it is compulsory at schools and is not proper scouting.

I know, what's your point?  People committing those offences in your list are frequently prosecuted also.

By the way, you omitted another form of legal gambling in addition to the GLO.

You may have missed this from my post,

ALL of these are illegal plus many more yet they happen on a daily basis.

Without rigorous, fair and equal treatment across ALL the people, you can make as many laws as you like, but without enforcement, they will simply be ignored.

Stopping corruption, reforming the military, the police, the civil service, returning peace and reconciliation to the people were among the reasons given by Prayuth for the 2014 coup.

Here we are, over 9 years, 2 elections and a badly flawed constitution later, and with all the power at his disposal, including being the minister of everything, he still can't fix the price of the lottery tickets.

In fact the only thing he HAS managed to do is to appoint his family, cronies and mates to become overpaid and totally useless senators. The only thing that they have achieved is to screw Thailand ever deeper in the morass with the latest election fiasco.

He has wasted 9 years of opportunity for Thailand.

As long as the young women were of legal age, I don't see any problem here.

I wasn't aware that dressing up in your favorite (non-pornographic) costume was any kind of legal violation, even in Thailand!

You don't think people dressing up in say police uniforms and getting up to no good is a problem? Or people impersonating monks?

Sexualizing the Girl Scout's uniform in a karaoke venue was done to provide customer's the opportunity to indulge pedophiliac fantasies. It also disrespects, sullies, and stigmatizes the uniform of an organization which aims to instill wholesome and moral values in young women. Morally indefensible, not to mention tacky, and in extremely bad taste.

you can't make someone think that a girl in a Scouts uniform is sexual any more than you can make someone think that the world is flat. Or that God created the earth in 6 days. You either believe it or you don't. To even suggest it is done to sate paedophiles says a great deal about you. A Paedo might be aroused by it but that doesn't make it wrong.......the reaction from the paedo is wrong not the act itself. Paedos are aroused by all manner of oddities.......do we reorganise everything so that they dont become aroused? Get real.

Why do you feel the urge to judge people and berate them anyway? Who are you?

The girl scout uniform is a uniform most often associated with young and early teen girls.  Some posters have tried to deflect away from this fact by pointing out that young women into their late teens can still be girl scouts, but everyone knows that this is a uniform primarily worn by 7th to 12th grade school girls.

To pretend that wearing this uniform in a karaoke bar setting where sexual services are often transacted was not done for the purposes of giving the girls the allure of being underage and that that would not appeal to customers who harbored fantasies about having sex with underage school girls is nonsense. Your comment suggesting that only someone with a dirty mind would think such a thing is a transparent attempt at deflection. Going into a bar where all the girls are dressed up in girl scout uniforms is just good clean fun, and anyone who thinks that it might appeal to those with pedophile fantasies and predilections is a dirty old perv?                 R-i-i-g-h-t.  Shure, pal.

Anyone with a moral bone in their body should see that this was inappropriate and it's a poor reflection on this forum that, with only a few exceptions, so many seem to think this is A-OK.

If people want to dismiss the disapproval voiced by the Thai and foreign on-line community as narrow-mindedness, my response would be that some of you need to be reminded that people are trying to raise families here, which is rarely easy. Imagine a school girl seeing a woman ducking into a karaoke bar wearing the same scout uniform she wore to school the day before. You don't think that degrades the uniform, and would be innocence corroding, the child asking her mother or classmates why grown women were wearing girl scout uniforms in a karaoke bar?

You demanded to know who I was, as if to suggest, who gave me the right to get on a moral high horse? First of all, it's not a moral high horse. It's simple common decency and respect for community values. But to answer your question,  I've taught in Thai schools and I've raised a Thai step daughter who participated in girl scout activities, and as a former teacher and step-parent, I found the use of the girl scout uniform in a karaoke bar setting to be very inappropriate and offensive.

When it's being done in a bar or karaoke joint, no,  I don't think that's a problem... The setting matters.

If I were to go into a bar in Soi Cowboy and see a young lady dancing on stage a nurse's uniform, I don't think I'd be walking up to her and asking her advice on the best allergy medication to take!!!

just for the record, I haven't set foot in a Thai girlie bar in MANY MANY years.... But I do try to keep my finger on the pulse of things here...

And do so enough to be able to say -- dress-up costume nights where the employees and/or female guests are encouraged to dress up in school girl uniforms are a common promotional staple of Thai nightclubs / bars all around the country.  You can see those constantly promoted on FB and elsewhere.

still on your high horse but conveniently moved the goalposts I see. YOU said it was done to cater for paedophiles - it wasn't. A paedo might well be aroused by it but so too are completely normal heteresexual red-blooded males. Take ur head out of your a s s and stop whining like one of your students. Oh, and stop lecturing adults on what they can and cannot enjoy - or expect to get pulled up about it. I have been much more polite than you deserve.
