I have a new washing machine (Sharp top loader) but the time remaining in the cycle displayed are very misleading.

 

The "quick cycle" starts at 28 mins and counts down, but takes well over an hour to reach zero.

 

Any ideas what the problem could be?

1. Are you heating the water????

 

2. The little filter inside the water supply tap/faucet is blocked increasing fill times.????

I have hot water in my bathroom so I assume it's hot. But maybe not considering it's not that good at washing whites. How can I check?

Check if the machine has a knob for temperature setting. 

 

Disconnect the machine from the water supply and see how good the flow is in the supply line.

Kinda normal, Otteri washing machines say 26 mins and it's nearer 45. Probably standard to not count when it isn't spinning
