Prayut says he will just be an ordinary citizen with his family after retirement

After chairing his last cabinet meeting today (Tuesday), outgoing Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha told the media that he will spend the rest of his life in retirement with his family and taking rest as an ordinary citizen who has no privileges.

 

In his brief farewell speech, he thanked all the ministers, his staff, officials and maids working at Government House, expressing hope that they will continue to do so.

 

During the lunch break, after the cabinet meeting, the prime minister, his ministers and staff took a group photo and were seen engaged in joyful chit-chat.

Outgoing PM Thanks Everyone for Service to Nation

 

 

BANGKOK, Aug 29 (TNA) – Outgoing Prime Minister Gen. Prayuth Chan-ocha  joined in a group photo with the Cabinet members and government officials, expressing his gratitude to everyone for their dedicated service to the nation.

 

Following the Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, Gen. Prayuth joined the photo session with his Cabinet members. Among those present were Gen. Anupong Paojinda, Mr. Itthipol Khunpluem, Mr. Anucha Nakasai, Mr. Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, Mr. Peeraphan Salirathaviphak, Mr. Juti Krairuek , Mr. Supattanapong Phanmeechaow and Mr. Varawuth Silpa-archa.

Excellent Khun Prayut Chan O Cha ....   he's done a great job serving as Prime Minister for 9 difficult years that were at times unruly, contentious and troubled, however Khun Prayut always kept a cool head and mastered through turbulent waters. 

Thailand was always ticking over economically as many new road, rail, civil, schools, hospitals, and many more projects were completed including the Monorail Yellow line recently. 

We wish him all the best in his retirement years.

I agree with all the above..........it was just a shame that he was such an unlikeable figure  -  now, if he had some of the charm of a khun Abhisit.......

This is sarcasim isn't it? I hope so otherwise I feel you may be deluded. Money for major projects yes. Money for people not so much. Kickbacks for the major projects would have been huge. He's as corrupt as the day is long.

No different to any predecessor - he certainly took less than Thaksin. He got things done - and at the end of the day may have successfully presided over a major move towards democracy in Thailand.

Got things done alright. Some of those "things he got done" are no longer with us i.e. dissappeared. One did turn up in the Mekong with cement in his belly. There are other cases. Yes I am well aware Thaksin did the extra-judicial drug killings. I hate both of them.

How can you possibly say this after what has happened. The voting public elected MFP. MFP have the largest amount of seats in the Housre of Reps than any other single party. The people voted and MFP came out on top. The people wanted change and wanted Pita as PM. 250 senators, the EC and the CC all constructs of Prayuts junta usurped the people's voice. Maybe you can explain how this is a major move toward democracy.
