.....and the circus continues.

A done deal even before he dared to set foot back in Thailand.

Come back, fanfare, show his face in court, feign sickness, go to hospital, plead health issues, get a doctors note, private room, application for a pardon on medical grounds.

Back at the Thaksin residence in less than a month.

Does he have to provide reasons why he should get the royal clemency?

Good behavior - fail.

He is really sorry for his crimes - fail.

He compensated the damaged parties - fail.

He will never do it again - fail.

He was already a substantial time in jail - fail.

I am sure we could add 100 other reasons why he doesn't deserve what he asks for.

I'm sure he could provide a billion reasons to grant it.

He will leave hospital for freedom in a wheelchair.

The week after he will be secretly filmed playing badminton.

he'll be wheeled out with an oxygen tank and emergency nurse carrying a defibrillator ....

amazingly ,   next week he'll be running all over the court smashing the ball and eating lobster & drinking champagne

Do they have them in Thailand???????

If someone was convicted on ''trumped up - political motivated'' charges, wouldn't they be fighting to clear their name, rather than crawling on the floor, asking for clemency?

Convicted former prime minister Ex-PM Thaksin Shinawatra, who recently began serving an 8-year prison term.

At least they got the convicted right, but as for the "recently began serving an 8-year prison term" unless having a cup of tea & a biscuit while a deal is cut constitutes a prison term, maybe they should have just left that part out?

Many care.

Most just can’t afford the consequences of speaking up.

Don't worry, the tipping point is not far off.

If the recent election debacle was'nt enough to arc them up, nothing will! Where's the somtam!

MFP may have had a chance if their policy had excluded one item in particlar.

The deal was done to ensure they would not be able to persue it.

Thaksin returns, MFP are blocked by PT and link up with other parties.

Thaksin applies for pardon as agreed. MFP removed for certainly the time being.

Thaksin gets pardon.

was never difficult to see what was happening.

It has nothing at all to do with Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam.

The sooner he learns that the better.

He doesn't seem to understand that he is not important and he never was.

The application has been sent to someone way above his pay grade and position.

It seems to me that he cannot let go of the tiny bit of power he had.

His actual position, and has been since the election in May, is only a Deputy Prime Minister in a caretaker government.

Somewhat akin to an office boy or a gofer.

He received (intercepted?) the appeal yesterday.

The previous Prime Minister, serenaded by adoring crowds of civil servants left office yesterday.

Did no one tell Wissanu?

Knowing full well he still has a lot of support from the poor,  many of whom will be disappointed if clemency is not granted. Even most sec. 112 offenders are typically granted clemency eventually (usually on he Kings birthday). But after less than 1 month in lockup? You can say this about Thaksin, he is nothing, if he is not bold.
