Solar cars have been around for many years. Not practical. Enough oil for well over 50 years, probably 100 as most not mined yet.

Petrol cars will be around for many years.

So in 50 years when the world runs out of oil, should we only then start making electronic cars and charging stations?  Or here's a right-wing brain buster....plan for the future?

Oil wont run out this century. They said it would run out by 2000 in the 1970s. They keep finding more oil.

Rode in an EV yesterday. Lost 40% of its charge from a 1.5 hour drive.

So range of 3 hours and 45 minutes, it all depends on the speed and terrain.

So in your mind having oil today (or the next several decades) means no need to plan for the future?

Cant plan for 2100. People in 1920 couldnt plan for 2000.

Only 2 economists out of 50,000 predicted the gfc. How the hell can people plan for 2100? These cc people are just liars.

Link to this BS please? Actually, don't, it's off topic. A bank failure is a little more difficult to predict than when the evidence is staring us in the face. We can safely predict that we are gone by 2100 if we don't do something about climate change.

We like to think we are a bit smarter than in 1920. We can actually know that we are headed for extinction by 2100 if we don't plan.

No, we are not headed for extinction. I can't think of any climatologist who makes such a claim. That is definitely not a claim of the IPCC. Just that things will get very bad for billions of people if nothing is done.

One step at a time, no one is suggesting plan for 2100, but making small advances today means a better future, right?

How about the head of the UN?

“Humanity is on thin ice — and that ice is melting fast,” United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said. “Our world needs climate action on all fronts — everything, everywhere, all at once.”

The IPCC has just released its 2021 report and the big takeaway is that time is running out for the planet unless policies are enacted now to halt climate change.

The IPCC has made it crystal clear the future is now and that we have only decades to stop the damage before it hits the point of no return.

In recent years a number of prominent figures have warned of the possibility of human extinction as a result of man-made climate change

I wish my 400 small block got that sort of range.

The only article that supports your claim about human extinction is the last one. The authoritative ones don't. And who is Julian Cribb that we should mind what he says?

You don't think there's a level of climate change that would reasonably, if not must, result in human extinction? No tipping point that we could reach?

Could you explain what you mean by "ALSO"?

The generator is used to power the EV recharging points, especially when theu are busy. Most charging points do not run on renewable energy exclusively.
