I've got 10 MCB's in the house unit, selection of Schneider, Square D and Chang, with a 2P 63A Schneider main breaker.

Would like to replace the main breaker with a 2P 63A RCBO unit.

Chang and Schneider appear to be interchangeable.  Chang is available locally, Schneider is a bit of a drive.

Not sure if I want to order online.

No desire to switch out the 10 MCB's.  Can live with one RCBO to rule them all.

Any reasons NOT to go with the Chang instead of Schneider?

In oz the regulation is one rcbo for max 3 MCB. Not sure why though ?

The idea is that you never lose all power, specifically lighting. The UK like the board split over two RCDs.

It's all about safety in the event of a trip.

I read somewhere that the latest Thai reg is for main breaker RCBO.

Not worried if I lose all power.

If it trips at night, I have flashlights.

I can switch off all the MCD's and go from there.

Yeah, that's a minimum requirement. no problem with an RCBO per circuit.

You just lucky not doing things in oz. Authorities are fascists there. Landlords need to spend hundreds of dollars each year for safety checks every two years. Poor renters have just had to endure major increases. Friend said 50 bucks more a week for his rent just recently. Anyway, with the cost of breakers being so cheap consider rewiring in all rcbo. It will save you in the future from trying to hunt down any earth leakage. If a tiny place no big deal.

Trouble is that if it is the main house breaker it could trip on a close lightning strike or an incoming power flick (on, then a short duration off, then on again), or genset start up.

Mine sometimes trips on any of these.

And the chances are that it will trip just as you go out the gate for a couple of days holiday and you come back to a defrosted fridge.

Reason is, if wired as the Op suggests, (bad idea) any trip limits power outage to just those circuits.

Many (most if not all new installs/or modifications) these days are separate RCBO on each and every circuit.

They're cheap enough.........

As for the different brands....you get what you pay for.????
