Friday, September 15, 2023, the police, in collaboration with PCT5 and the 113th Division, apprehended "Khun Pay," the leader of a ruthless debt collection gang accused of running an unauthorized sub-loan business with excessive interest rates.

The arrest took place in front of a shop in Sareeka, Muang Nakhon Nayok, Nakhon Nayok province. The suspect, Mr. Peerapat, had been wanted by the Criminal Court since May 27, 2023, on charges of "jointly operating a sub-loan business without permission and charging interest rates exceeding the legal limit."

Initially, the suspect worked as a factory worker before being persuaded by friends and relatives working in daily debt collection to join their ranks in the Mee Na Buri area, reported INN.

He claimed the income was good and the job was easy, earning a monthly wage of 6,000 Baht with a daily allowance of 100 Baht. His role involved intimidating borrowers and collecting debts on behalf of the warrants.

This case likely stems from an incident that occurred around mid-May 2023 when the suspect and his relative, who also collected debts, harassed a borrower who couldn't meet the daily repayment schedule.

This news aims to raise public awareness about the dangers of illegal lending practices, excessive interest rates, and the use of threats and violence, all of which are illegal under Thai law.

Citizens can verify licensed lending institutions on the Bank of Thailand's website to avoid falling victim to unscrupulous individuals.

Experience? How does it feel? ????

I've been banged up twice in BKK but apart from being thrown into a cell, no such antics in play by the boys in brown.
