A driver in Nongprue this morning who was possibly intoxicated crashed into a power pole and then attempted to escape, say police.

Captain Surachai Chuaikoon of the Nongprue Police was notified of the accident in the early morning of Thursday (September 21st) in Soi Phon Prapa Nimit 6. Emergency responders and the Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find a damaged SUV had crashed into a high voltage power pole.

The driver, Mr. Woraphon Kerdphonngam, 43, was found in the driver’s seat and he seemed to be intoxicated. Despite the presence of reporters and rescue teams Woraphon was continually trying to start the heavily damaged car to drive away. However, rescue workers were able to stop him and remove him from the car before calling the police. He was not injured.

from the attached photo i'm guessing this was not difficult.

Now a couple of days pause in the story to allow Plod to check who the driver's father is.

Mr. Woraphon

Mr I Wannarun :coffee1:

On the bright side, being intoxicated should nullify any insurance claim and he have to pay for it all himself - just rather a shame he does not have to pay for the emergency services costs
