Popular Post Goat
Plenty of farangs living in Issan in every province. I have met hundreds over the years. But every single one that i have met had followed their wife or girlfriend there, and if their wife had of been from another region they would have ended up wherever. I have heard of a few who ended up there for work or Christian pushers but has anyone ever met a farang who chose to live there who wasnt attatched to a woman or for work? 4 1 5 2

Much better than Bangkok types. Nong Khai had the nicest people ive met in all of Thailand. 5 1 5 3

Popular Post spidermike007
My guess is that at least 80% of the time it is the woman making the choice. I like Issan and many people from Issan. I am with one. She is wonderful and so is her entire family. But, three days up there is my limit. 3 1 1 6 3

Who is going to let him know? Actually, the poster is kind of looking in the wrong direction - Issan is kind of OK, the people are a bit uneducated, lazy, the local food is kind of inedible at times - but the locals are friendly enough, its nice, quiet, convenient. It's the Deep South! Hell, I moved there for work, moved house lock, stock and .. and just regretted it. I was stuck for 12 years. Apart from one guy at work, I never spoke to a westerner, never even saw a westerner for months on end, the local people were so stubborn and rude, even to other Thais. You would walk into a shop and everyone would hide, it doesn't stop raining, its so far away from Bangkok, we would go to KL, its closer. In the end we embraced it, the food is a redeeming feature. We tried to buy land, all we could find was expensive parcels of land that no one wanted, wasted a year looking. 2 2 1

If you like the quiet, polite, beautiful pale skin types you can not go past Nongkai as Big Nok recomended. Probably my favorites from Issan though you do get better in the northern region, specifically CM, CR and Lampang if white and polite is your thing. In Mukdahan and Sakon Nakon you will find that dog is on the menu. I dont know if it is related but those girls from there have the smoothest silkiest skin in all of Thailand. Often interbred a few generations back with the Vietnamese which also might explain both the taste for dog and the silky skin. Black dog is favored for its taste. Central Issan have many friendly beautiful girls, more of a Latte type skin tone, a little bow legged from working on the rice fields which also gives them pert behinds with almost a rubbery texture. Southern Isaan have the least attractive girls in my opinion, Burirum, Sisaket and Surin, very dark and with more Khmer mixed in so their facial features are not as good. But what they lack in looks they more than make up for in sexual appetite for Farangs. You will find a higher proportion of these girls in Pattaya Bars than from anywhere else. Dont be surprised if you are walking down the street and one pops out of nowhere and applies the squirrel grip to you. Ubon borders Cambodia but also Laos so you get more of a mixed bag of looks in Ubon. Many stunners there happy to meet someone like Bob. Korat also gives you a bit of a mix as they have a large population of Central Thais that have crossbred with the Issan people. Some stunners. Good luck Bob, not that you will need it in Issan. Take a stick, you will need it to fight them off. 2 5 3 3

Popular Post Reginald Prewster
I was living since 2002 in Pattaya where my wife had a Pa Tong Go shop.. Once I visited (respect visit to her father) Isaan I was fully in love, but my wife didn't want to move because she had serious reasons. - I have a too long travel to work = Bullsh*t, because Khon Kaen Airport is 30 Km and the flight to Bangkok 1 hr... -Farangs in isaan cannot own Land and lose all their land to their ladies when farang is leaving them.. HUH? She loves me since 2002 but doesn't want land??? Farang need Pubs (I not go into Bars) and Isaan has no Pubs... Darn man, I am out with my farm lads and we find places that speak english, are more open to farangs and the laughing factor is 300% higher ...by the time passing by I extended my visits and also the frequence to father in law more and more, even we slept in his wood house on the top floor and I mus say after stressful jobs offshore that was so relaxing.. I left Pattaya more and more behind and developed an antipathy to all over there. 2012 I almost stayed all my free time at my father in laws house and that year I actually found out the my wife loves to have land, a lake and a food jungle (her garden eden) Well girlie, this is my dream sind my chidlhood and 2012 I took her to Germany to show where I grew up. Now we have our farm in the middle of nowhere and we never have been so happy and relaxed before... To the topic, I would have given my wife maybe another year or two if she wouldn't have changed her mind. But she did it for me and thought the lonely Isaan would kill me... 8

Yea, me, as I couldn't leave because of the kid I was raising. Or I would not have been there. People worldwide live in areas other than their 1st, 2nd 3rd, 10th choice, when following their heart, or money. Do you think I really wanted to work at Newark or Detroit airport. Or even Philly airport ? Hell no ... but that's where the money was at the time. First moved to Udon Thani because GF/Wife's family lived there. Realize that was a mistake pretty fast, wife part, and divorced quite fast, but stayed to raise the wee one. She kept me busy, and 3 months a year O&A was enough, to not go insane, along with local outings, as much as possible. Get along the edge of the plateau, and it's quite interesting. Staying in the metro area, NO, boring as hell, except an afternoon lunch outing, or dinner after school pick up before heading back to the village's tranquility. Which I even lived outside of that, and always do. Once out of high school, we (new wife) were gone almost instantly. Kid off to Uni. I need to be near moving water, river or beach, and some nice hills, but most importantly, less congestion. But not away from everything. PKK is nice mix of everything.

I'm in Sisaket, and I've seen for over 6 years here, along with Ubon province, women as good looking as anywhere else in Thailand. Many without makeup and lighter skinned. My ex was the prettiest woman in our area, light skin, looking like a blend of Thai and something else. Been to Bangkok many times, A few islands, other provinces, and have seen women posted from all over, including some back in Texas. Isaan has some beauties, but they know it, and the ones that don't feel the need to sell their wares, meaning the intelligent ones with no damage, aren't easy to fool. Money will of course attract some, but if they are independent, they will prefer their own most of the time. 2
