Elderly woman in Buriram lives alone without basic amenities for 30 years

An 84 year old woman has been living alone for over 30 years without any basic facilities such as electricity and water in her Buriram home.

This distressing scenario unfolded in the Buriram province where the woman lives in a dilapidated house. She is unable to walk and relies on the kindness of her neighbours and leftover food from a local school.

Yoei Bungthong, a resident of House 101, Moo 3, Mai Daeng village, Chum Saeng sub-district in the province, has been living alone for over three decades. She had two children, both of whom have passed away, leaving only a few relatives who occasionally visit her.

The locals, aware of her plight, share their meals with her, with school lunches often provided by teachers from a nearby school.

A local community leader, Aiem Soraknit, revealed that Yoei’s condition had been known to the community for some time.

That doesn't say much for the community.   They could have provided her an upgrade in living conditions.

She is probably happy ,

She probably likes to live alone ,why do people interfere?

My late mother used to live in a 1 bedroom bungalow by the sea ,she started having church people come over to offer her food and stuff

She got sick of it

I imagine she owns the land after 30 years

She probably likes her shack and does not want to leave.  People are helping her with food.  Better then being a drug addicted bum in San Francisco sleeping and taking a dump on the sidewalk..

Should have painted the house when she was 50.  30 years and she couldn't find time to mend the door.

No. She sold the land 15 years ago.

Relatives came and took the money.

They keep stealing any money this lady gets.

Sad story - in The Thaiger

You just know that she has lived to the ripe old age of 84 without the use of it and will now get it and be dead in 2 months from dodgy Thai electrician

Typo error in link.

How can one say she is not happy despite her conditions ? At least she does not get scammed in exorbitant monthly "community fees" or other monthly over-inflated charges that are common practice in housing or condo developpments.

Exactly

Some of these Condo fees are exorbitant

Just saw a post where a farang was saying they were having special levy fees in his condo building to put in new lifts and new management,it was something like a extra 60,000 baht for a one time special strata levy
