Nothing wrong with this sentence. A strong warning to others.

I bet you know the Thai word for "proportionality"...

Do you know the Thai for "21 counts"?

Not for 21 charges, they don't.

You get the point. A fine is all needed, maybe 7 days in jail. Very strange sentence if true.

You don't get the point.  The charges he faced carried a 5-year sentence.

"Driving a car to golf" wasn't the charge.  21 charges of corruption and misconduct were.

So much love being displayed for three corrupt senior Thai government officials who've been jailed...quite an about-turn for AN posters!  What's happening, whatever next?

Or ”was a car even stolen ”?

Or "corruption and misconduct"...the actual charges they all faced

He's not going to jail, it's all for show.

When I lived in Isarn, the director of my daughter's school was charged with giving 40 million baht as a bribe to get his job. In court, 9 Ministry of Education officials went to jail for accepting the bribe but the school director was innocent!

Or ”consistency” then given the endemic nature of that in Thailand. Again ,proportionality too, given the Sums involved. Were they way above the typical official this 50 years ?

What in Satans name is wrong with the system? For murder a nice Bonus brown bag .

Using a car for private use (no one got hurt )Absolutely insane and stupid.

As per this standard  half govern. employees should be in jail

Wow.. little excessive... and the guy( 1.5yrs ago)  who killed 2 women gets 10yrs and released after 4 and kills again

Seems a bit excessive, Thai courts are weird!

He got off lightly. Misuse of public office in Thailand carries a maximum sentence of death and has been so for very many years. Those members of staff who know about it and do not report it are also classed as complicit which is actually counter productive His staff must have been promised amnesty for informing on him

50 years for a guy using a “company car” private? This is the new max of insanity in thailand.

Sounds a bit harse, maybe a misprint.

He was probably flogging the army’s old stock of GT-2000 drug/golf ball detectors from the boot to fellow players and they notified the authorities that they still couldn’t find their balls.

Out of all the crimes Thai public officials are suspected of using a government vehicle for private use could hardly be considered to be urgent.

Unless of course, he was beating senior army players in the golf competition. Then it’s fully justified !

Ok, let me rephrase that then, 50 years for using a a company car privately is fricking ridiculous!!!! This would result in a fine in most other countries!
