Pattaya — The official opening ceremony of the new Swiss honorary consulate took place in Pattaya, Thailand on October 12th, 2023, and was attended by the Mayor of Pattaya, Poramese Ngampiches, as well as the Ambassador and Honorary Consul of the Swiss Confederation to Thailand.

The Honorary Consul of the Swiss Confederation, Ms. Esther Kaufmann, remarked that the establishment of the honorary consulate signifies an elevation of the diplomatic relationship between Switzerland and Thailand.

She added that it also presents a valuable opportunity to further promote and facilitate opportunities for cross-cultural learning and knowledge exchange among the citizens of both nations.

Are there really that many Swiss people around in the Pattaya area....?(I did actually meet one a few weeks back so perhaps there are). Commendable to see a country supporting it's overseas citizens.

Looks like you have still to go to Bangkok if you want anything done. Beside of holding your hand at the Soi 9 forced accomodation or in a hospital they do not much. Would have been handy for certificate of the pension income. No luck there I am afraid.

Absolutely. More like a tourist assistance. Nothing targeted to expats.

Quite a number. Swiss pioneering Pattaya in the early years with restaurants and some bars (Soi Diamond, Soi 7 area).

With the extremely overrated Swiss Franc and the average pension Swiss have a good standard here. Might drive tears to some British pensioners in comparison.

I've stopped crying into my beer; I can't afford the beer any more.

Average pension for Swiss male is about 50000 CHF/year. Well over 4000 CHF/month.

Exchange rate about 40.

Expect more Swiss on Phuket or Samui????
