How true, and not only this one. There are many beers that are phantastic. @spidermike007 claim that beer is a boring drink is simply not true. There is Weihenstephan Vitus for example, producted by a brewery with nearly 1000 years experience. Or Kirin or Asahi from Japan.

 

Of course everybody has his own taste. I do not like Lao Khao, either. But it must not only be wine. Sake is phantastic, too - a whole universe to discover - like for beer. I am a German national, what do you expect ? That I drink luke warm Guiness ?

 I agree. There are some phabulous (sic) German and Belgian beers.  Weihenstephaner really seem to be getting the hang of it now. ????  I like all their beers. Asahi and Kirin are o.k.  Can't beat Fullers ESB or their Porter. Lots of good beers and plenty of rough ones about.

Same, as sampled most reasonably priced here, and seems I don't need AA now, as they stopped producing the only one I really liked, Kopper.  The rest aren't worth the 50 baht, maybe Snowy 55 baht/490ml, but won't buy a slab of, since took so long for me to finish the last one.  None in the house, not worth a special trip to 7-11, and most restaurants don't sell.  So much for even bothering to have another.

 

The blissful memory of a Kopper in frosted mug is fading fast.

I would have agreed with you about American beers a couple of decades ago, but there are countless small producers of craft beer now. How widely they are available, I have no idea. But some of Europe has the best beers - Czech, German, Belgian. I haven't sampled Serbian.

The Cheers Weizen beer is, in my opinion, far superior to Snowy. I'd even suggest it is up to European standard. When I discovered that I had to have another due to the shock. They do a mango one too that I bought by mistake, and even that was half decent although, of course, rather sweet.

 

My preferred Thai beer is Tapper at 6%. Leo 8 comes in at number two.

Just the other day I saw a new beer available at 7/11 with 10.5% alcohol content. I forgot the name, but off white coloured can.

Price was something like 130 baht,

I'm sure this will soon be declared the best tasting beer in town by the AN alcies , at least those that still have a few baht left to their name

Yank mass produced are almost as bad as TH mass produced beers.  Sam Adams was OK.   Pennsylvania Pilsner, still the best I've ever drank.

 

Had a couple good German beers here, but really are silly priced.

 

Chit Beer on Ko Kret, allows you to sample more than a few crafts, but none really doing it for me, or a steady supply available locally at reasonable prices.  

 

Really enjoyed the Porters & Stouts (lite/not Guinness) that were available at the pubs in Philly, PA, USA during my 'happy hour' days.  Kind of spoiled me from mass produced crap available there & here.

 

Beer Laos Dark still a winner here, 68 baht for small bottle now.  Not too bad a price.  Again, a box takes me too long to drink.

Their IPA is the nearest I've found to a good English beer. Not easy to find, though.

Leo had 3 good ones last year, cant post pics of them of course, yellow submarine, colombus and the third i forget, all really good in small special bottles. Bit too expensive so they were not around for long, they can do it but most Thais are not really interested in good beer if it coast a bit more. Cheap weak muck is most popular,

I've seen that, though yet to sample.  If not between 2-5pm yesterday, I would have had one with my late lunch, @ Gourmet Market/Hua Hin

Thai beer is only rivaled by Serbian beer, and the mass produced American beers, in terms of the very low quality. Poor grade of hops, barely, and the production process seems to be entirely lacking in pride. Typical of the big monopolies. Even a large production beer, like Beer Laos blows away any Thai beer, hands down. Thailand desperately needs a vital craft beer movement, and the youth are ready to mount it. If only the dinosaurs would stop protecting their "bankers" and move out of the way. In other words, allow some progress, you mindless simpletons!

Where may I ask did you go to Happy Hour in Philadelphia   ever hit 2 stones in Chesco ,Delco   tremendous Happy Hour and good beer wish i had some now.
