BANGKOK (NNT) - Thailand and Germany have launched a joint project to help Thailand achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. The project, called the Thai-German Cooperation on Energy, Mobility and Climate (TGC EMC), is funded by the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK)

The TGC EMC project will focus on cross-sectoral issues such as energy and transportation. It will establish city labs to test and implement new technologies and approaches in urban settings. The project will also provide seed funding and capacity development for local projects and fund managers.

The launch of the TGC EMC project is a significant step forward for Thailand’s climate ambitions. The project will help Thailand to develop and implement the necessary policies and measures to achieve carbon neutrality.

Please don't tell me the green extremists from BMWK will manage to drive down the economy with blind actionism like in Germany.

The minister (Habeck) from the Green party is an academic philosopher and writer. Writing books for children among others.

He has zero insight or experience in any fields of his ministry. His thesis was a literature theoretic topic.

Ok. Before others tell me:

a great US president was a former movie actor 🤣

I wonder ion the Germans will do such a wonderful job here as they have done in Germany. The rule in 'copying best practice' is given in the words.....and means if you are thinking of copying something from abroad, copy something successful, not something that's a total disaster.

But but but - you need to cut all of those down to make way for solar panels!  Don't 'cha know?

"Since 2010, more than 500 ground-mount solar projects have been developed across the state, covering 8,000 acres, of which about 60 percent are forest acres, according to the report. This illustrates a terrible irony: Deploying solar often means cutting back on tree cover and losing the climate change mitigation it provides through pulling carbon dioxide from the air, storing the carbon, and releasing oxygen into the atmosphere."
--Anne J. Manning, The Harvard Gazette, Oct 13, 2023

Personally on a global scale they are low-balling the amount of area being deforested to put up solar panels.

Does carbon neutrality mean stopping all the crop burning in Thailand?

Bingo!  As well as the annual large-scale arson in the forests in order to clear the under-bush and stimulate mushroom growth.  It's the 500lb gorilla in the room that the climate-crazies like Extinction Rebellion and their WEF, NGO, and governmental partners are willfully ignoring.

The problem with 90% of the "greenies" is they take all of these aspects or scenarios beyond what is sensible to the stage that they are environmentally damaging.

The global Electric Vehicle push is & will substantially increase carbon emissions but the sheep leading the sheep are too stupid to see this. They see less fossil fuel powered vehicles on the road and more EV's but forget how these electric powered vehicles are made, the increase in fossil fuel powered machinery to extract raw materials, the cost of these raw materials, the fossil fuel powered manufacturing process and finally the environmental disaster disposing of the batteries after they fail and are no longer serviceable.

I guess its a bit like the Covid con which made a few people very rich and many very poor, but as long as the rich get richer, the Greenies get their reckless ideas instated then why should they care, even at the expense of our planet.

So the german versions of the Swedish Greta...named maybe Grechen, will come over start to yell insults, stick their hands on Thai roads, vandalise museums and god knows what ?

Nobody needs falang eco-environment terrorists to come to Asia. Really no. Thais are smart enough to know what is best for their economy.
