Bangkok Red Cross, 6% of those tested have HIV, they provide updated monthly figures

They were similar figures I was told by a nurse in a village but it was closer to 10% from memory. And that is only the people tested and that is generally women at 3 months pregnancy. I don't know what the real figure would be including untested people but would have to be close to double the official figures

That is all true - but only if the person with HIV (measures as HIV+) has a detectable viral load (different test).  Properly treated HIV get the viral load down to become undetectable - the correctly treated person is no longer infectious. At the same time, getting treated always means the person also gets much more aware of the need for adherence to the regime of daily pills, and living a healthier lifestyle. Kisses, scratches, condoms etc are not important. Testing <<<<, treating and having an undetectable viral load are the key here.

You have to take the Thailand factor into account when you are talking about awareness and adherence to regimes. Like I said I saw the doctor scolding endless amount of patients for not taking their meds. There are very few symptoms up until they are near the point of being at the too late stage (Aids). You know what Thais are like....no symptoms...no problem. The girl I knew went off her meds for at least 3 months during Covid. Not sure what the outcomes were. Started because her village was in lockdown for 3 weeks. Out of embarrassment she is registered out of province in another area and has to travel some distance to get them. She just didn't bother. I asked her to get on the phone maybe the hospital can send her the meds in the post or something but she just said never mind.

No unprotected sex is a mantra pretty well-known to most people. She maybe doesn't understand that she probably didn't pass it on if they wore a condom. Oral sex carries little to no risk for getting or transmitting HIV, much lower than with anal or vaginal sex.

nah... my standards are pretty good... even without glasses. this girl, unless she has an incredibly ugly nose, eyes, and forehead looks fine to me

So just 'really damn ugly' is ok?  As long as it's not incredibly ugly?

There was a girl I up until 2 weeks ago used to see walking around Buakhao especially around Subway, Diana Buakhao junction, very very skinny, looked homeless with AIDS, finally disappeared I reckon passed away, sad that she was left to die like that

It helps but doesn't prevent transmission for certain.

As long as you are undetectable for last 3 months, haven't missed any doses of your HAART and haven't caught another STD, it's as close to 100% as you can measure that you can't pass it on.

People who are stateless, or Laos, or Myanmar and not entitled to free meds so they ultimately die of AIDS.

Magic Johnson must be adhering to this, as he's supposedly had it for 30+ years and looks as healthy and strong as ever.

If you live in Asia, you'll know that a great many females (non-bar girls included) are all too happy to go unprotected. In the heat of the moment, with a young lady of 24 or so, what will you do? Hit pause and search for a condom?

I know of an American guy in his 50s now who lived in Thailand for many years, shagged more than Hugh Hefner, and at some point realized that he was HIV positive, and this went on until around 2015 or so. He's now living on his sister's couch in the western USA and he acknowledges that he probably spread it far and wide. He has a Thai gf who didn't get it, and he flies her in to the US a couple of times a  year and they have sex with a condom. I doubt this is an uncommon scenario. Honestly, to me, it's pretty obvious that Thai bar girls have too much mileage, are too jaded, and have banged more guys than most veteran porno stars combined. Thai men are bisexual drug-users. What do you think you're getting into?

When I was dating out of maybe 10 girls I think I was asked if I had a condom once, and it still wasn't a problem. HIV / STD aside they don't even seem to consider falling pregnant. Working girls used to be maybe 50% didn't seem to care or could be talked out of it when doing the deal in the bar. Some would ask for more money

I saw a lot of young kids like that in the HIV clinics. One sticks in my mind young monk cant of been much more than 18yo. Already had sores etc developing and skinny. Doctor was giving it to him he was smiling and just didn't seem to care or realize. Once upon a time once it got to proper AIDs stage (immunity level under 200?) I think back then it was a foregone conclusion. What are the survival chances now once it has gone the full course? I forget the term but it basically is how they measure your immunity. 1200 - 1500 was normal...Under 200 was classed as proper aids from memory.

Dunno what you are trying to say, I  was responding to a post insinuating that 10% of girls 3 months pregnant would be HIV positive, which is rubbish in light of UNAIDS' figures. Can't we be serious for a minute?

Tell us what you are doing in HIV clinics, some kind of a hobby? I am asking because I could have missed something.

Contrary to popular belief I've found most girls I've talked to in Pattaya insist on a condom

I was with a woman for three years had HIV for at least the amount of time I was with her, unbeknownst to me. I been there and done it sadly. For your benefit, I didn't actually contract it, nor did my son. I accompanied her to clinics 7 or 8 times and had to take my son for follow up tests. Why do you keep using the word "us" like you are speaking for everyone or everyone shares your opinions? And the Yes, your story may be true....really appreciate your validation

Lucky for the men involved that, since there needs to be a transfer of body fluids from the infected, it is somewhat difficult to catch by the male in a heterosexual situation.

Assume that every casual sex partner may well be positive and many a non-casual one as well. Especially prostitutes as if I even have to say that.  Then take responsibility for protecting yourself. Nothing short of celibacy is fully risk free. End of.

Those who are gay and dabble with ladyboys are the greatest risk, I guess they know that, or not maybe

Most men that go with LBs are straight, but I get the point as far as risk factors. Mainstream gay men (who don't go for LBs) are definitely are quite aware of risks.
