Popular Post HappyExpat57
My first soapie was all I needed. I actually came here to learn to become a scuba instructor after 13 years as a Divemaster. Mermaid's in Jomtien (RIP) was one of the three best rated shops in the world. The rest is history.

Lacessit
I came to Thailand as a technical consultant about 30 years ago. I was astounded by how cheap everything was, compared to Australia. I can still remember the president of the company I was working for taking a dozen people, including me, to a seafood restaurant in Rayong. Including beer for everyone, AUD 70. When I retired, I researched moving to the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand. I had worked in 3 out of 4 of those countries. Thailand came out on top after 6 months of mulling options. IMO it still does, 12 years later.

Popular Post radiochaser
I was in Vietnam for more than 1.5 years. People there were trying to kill me (perhaps not just me though)! 4 months after being in Vietnam, I was in Thailand for 7 months. People were not trying to kill me! Ergo, I chose Thailand. P.S. Earlier this year, I was in Vietnam for 4 days. No one tried to kill me. Such a welcome change. And the coffee was very good!
