I honestly thought you were sarcasticly joking. Haha.

It's a diff color wheel here.

Do you love orange and green like at the temple? I do. We have a 60's modern house back in the states. Thai color theory suits us fine.

Weather, food, socialising opportunities, desire to own nothing physical.

Cost of living/ geo-arbitrage is the cherry on the big fat cake.

' socialising opportunities'. :cheesy:

Never heard it called that before!

I came to Thailand as a technical consultant about 30 years ago. I was astounded by how cheap everything was, compared to Australia.

I can still remember the president of the company I was working for taking a dozen people, including me, to a seafood restaurant in Rayong.

Including beer for everyone, AUD 70.

When I retired, I researched moving to the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand. I had worked in 3 out of 4 of those countries.

Thailand came out on top after 6 months of mulling options. IMO it still does, 12 years later.

I guess if you survive here driving for a couple of years that will prepare you for most of the rest of the world.

Oddly enough, I feel more at risk when I am driving back in Melbourne. Different traffic tempo.

Fed up with rainy days in Wales and fed up with Britain and British people, govt in particular.

Friend recently retired (made redundant), sold his house in Stockport and bought another in Benllech. Wife soon admitted that when you live near the sea it doesn't have the same appeal as previously.
