The director-general of the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), Pol Col Suriya Singhakamol, has been removed and appointed as the deputy permanent secretary of justice by the cabinet.

No explanation was given for Suriya’s abrupt transfer, but it is speculated that this sudden move stems from Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin’s dissatisfaction with the performance of the DSI in the crackdown on illegal import and smuggling of frozen pork, which is harmful to the local industry, reduces prices and risks the spread of animal diseases.

During a recent meeting with the DSI chief, for an update of the illegal pork problem, the prime minister openly voiced his dissatisfaction with the lack of progress in addressing the problem.

Caption: The DSI Facebook page published a photo of Suriya who wrote, ‘I had known that this day would come on the first day I took the leadership of this office. I chose my own way. I’m not sorry; I did my best. I felt honoured to work with you.”

DSI Chiefs here have a very short tenure here. I think this is the second to be sacked/reassigned/jailed this year.

Still can't figure out who's making money on this pork deal? I mean other than Makro.

'He knew this day would come from his first day in office' ie. He knew what was going on but couldn't step on any influential toes so he let it slide knowing he would eventually carry the can.

OR, perhaps Suriya has just such a list and the wealthy/influential people on it pressured the PM and the Cabinet to have him transferred :coffee1:

If he was doing nothing he was just the guy to keep in that position, why would the influentials remove him?

He was not "doing nothing", he was investigating CP and Makro.

From the article:
"DSI officials are currently investigating the Siam Makro wholesale chain, a subsidiary of the CP Group, for having bought imported frozen pork and pig offal from two companies charged with the illegal importation of frozen pork. A total of 161 cargo containers of frozen pork have been impounded at Laem Chabang deep-sea port since September.

You didn't understand my drift...

Yes he was investigating, going through the motions... but no results..  Why?

Influentials made sure nothing changed.
