webfact
In a tragic turn of events, a sorrowful tale unfolded as a hidden stash of money concealed in the ceiling for ten years was discovered damaged by mice, resulting in a loss of over 30,000 baht. The story came to light on December 11 when Surasak Orasi posted a plea on Facebook, seeking assistance. Thieves had broken into the residence at Ban Khok Sa-at, Nakhon Phanom, stealing cash and valuables, including gold necklaces, totaling tens of thousands between December 6 and 10. Surasak urged anyone with information to come forward, emphasizing the unusual or suspicious activities witnessed during that period. Picture: Daily News Upon investigation, it was revealed that the victims, Narin and his wife, Arsa, had kept the money hidden in the ceiling for a decade. Distraught over the loss, the couple had initially sought help from the community, but the thieves remained elusive. Eventually, a thorough search led to the discovery of the damaged stash, with the rodents gnawing through the money, rendering over 30,000 baht unusable. Picture: Daily News In a recent update, Surasak Orasi's son shared the news that most of the stolen money and gold was found hidden in the ceiling, with only the cash sustaining significant damage. The family expressed gratitude for the community's support and apologized for any confusion caused. cracker1
If any of the notes are "recognisable" I am sure that the Central Bank would replace them. That is certainly the case in my country.

Moral of the story: keep your money in the bank - not in the ceiling, and gold is not a savings account.
