Hello

I have a 5 year old Z250SL which has almost done 10K.  I don't live here that much these days and was out during quite a lot of the pandemic.

Recently I noticed an occasional low pitched squeal/groan when I turn at low speed.  My question is should I just take it to the Kawasaki dealer (Chiang Mai) or to my old mechanic who used to repair my original CBR150 who I met when he worked for Honda before setting up his own shop.  Summarising, is it a simple job than any mechanic should be able to diagnose and fix?

Might have something to do with the caliper or barring? Should be simple enough for most mechanics

Go to both, or more, get as many opinions as you can, you will be amazed how different mechanics give you different approach ...

Just get opinion and price and how long it takes, then say I'm busy now, bring it later...!

Job to say, but sounds like headstock bearings? are they a bit tight, also at 5 yeas old they could be a bit dry and need some grease.

A quick look at Mr Google, looks if they are tapered bearings, they should not need replacing just cleaning re-greasing and then properly adjusting.

I would say that your local guy should be able to do them.

I had my head stock bearings replaced on my Wave, a pig of a job they are just ball bearings, it takes as long to take all the plastic surrounds off as it does to change the bearings, anyway I was charged 400 baht.
