Pattaya Airways takes flight in Q4 2024

At an exclusive event in Bangkok, the CEO of the Pattaya Group Tosaporn Asunee, announced the imminent takeoff of Pattaya Airways in the fourth quarter of 2024.

 

Tosaporn stated…

“We see a rising demand for air transportation services as the post-Covid situation stabilises.

 

“The industry is bouncing back, and the demand is increasing rapidly. Recognising this opportunity for expansion, we decided to venture into the airline business with Pattaya Airways, primarily targeting international customers in the Asian region, with plans to expand into other regions in the foreseeable future.”

Having secured the essential air operator’s license (AOL) in September, Pattaya Airways is gearing up for its maiden flight. The AOL serves as a stepping stone towards obtaining the coveted air operator’s certificate.

Looking at the state of that airplane, this airline will probably only be serving the Chinese market, lol.

And then they'll wonder why there are so few Chinese tourists coming...

Nope. An ATR 72-500 is not flying to China - maybe the very very southern cities but anywhere else is well out of its range. More likely to be serving Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, maybe Northern Malaysia.

Any alternative to the ridiculously choked highways here would be welcome. We're looking at successive administrations over a period of the last 70 years who have completely ignored the transportation of cargo, resulting in highways that are ridiculously clogged with trucks large and small. Plus a nation that has spent no time, effort, or money developing alternative forms of transportation.

 

Granted the MRT and BTS in Bangkok are exceptional.

There has been no word about U-Tapao in this and previous reports.

"Pattaya" is just used as a trademark(!), misleading and surprising really.

This article first appeared on 21st September in Bangkok Post. If you check Pattaya Airways, which is owned by Pattaya Group, it's based at U Tapao. I put question marks in my comment. They weren't statements. True, there is no info released by Pattaya Group as to out of where their services will be operating. But if U Thapao is involved, then the mafia taxi fares will be a factor for their passenger services, if they exist.

I found this route map in a Google search.  They must be planning something other than those prop planes if they will be flying to Australia & New Zealand, no?
