Data from the TAT and ATTA roadshow to China 2023 revealed a seismic shift towards independent and small-group travel, with groups of six to eight stealing the show. Nonglux Yooyendee, the director of TAT’s Shanghai office disclosed that Chinese tourists are no longer settling for mundane sightseeing. Instead, they’re craving high-quality tours tailored for the young, families, luxury enthusiasts, and those yearning for an authentic local experience. “Chinese tourists were also focusing on in-depth tours to experience Thai life firsthand instead of just sightseeing.” This paradigm shift is driven by the young generation’s hunger for unique experiences. Japanese did it back in the 80's, I think that China would benefit greatly from this. This will bring a more authentic experience. It would be nice to not have to go out to a restaurant and hear screaming, bickering, begging for a little more food for nothing, and leaving a freaking mess all over the place. The media there is controlled somewhat by the government and encouraged. They don't want their citizens travelling - would rather have them stay at home. China, hell, all nations enjoy control of their citizens one way or another. If they practice it is up for debate. Media is a great way to accomplish this. Just pull up CNN or Fox news and get the left or rights view on things. Obscured to maximize clicks and readership solely. And I am sorry to pick on those two news sources. The temples are fun, but after you've been to a few, you've been to them all. Outside of that, the TAT needs to look at other attractions. For instance, cleaning up all the litter at the national parks - they charge us foreigners enough to make up for it. And STOP taking the fun out of Thailand. Work on updating your museums and creating more. Bring back the street food. I really don't like how this has disappeared. It added to the fun of Thailand I love Thailand, but as for places to go and things to see in SEA, Singapore is at the top of my list. According to Stickman it's the Koreans... (Maybe because things in Thailand seem cheap, exchanging their worthless money: 1 Thai baht = 37.62 Korean won. Those who said they wouldn't return were talking nonsense. It's just been a bit slower than other countries. There is over a billion Chinese people. The well of Chinese head to Europe and Americas. The bottom of the barrel head to Thailand. It's mass tourism that will ruin cities like Bangkok and some great beach resorts. But well this current lot want that.
