Popular Post snoop1130
Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital has put five robots into service in the out-patient department. They will ease the workload of general affairs officials in the registration and issuance of ID cards for new patients and will shorten the waiting time for patients. The use of the robots, named “Mr Sam”, to handle paper work at the hospital, was inaugurated today by Dr. Chanchai Sittipunt, director of the hospital, and Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt. The robots are part of the hospital’s objective to reduce red tape, improve services for the public and to free medical personnel from non-medical duties through the introduction of new technologies. johng
I wonder if these bots have a built in photocopier for the reams of useless paper required ? Just reduce the "red tape" and/or employ more staff. Be gone with the bots or they will take everyone's job before you know it ! ..is that some kind of racism ? jobs for humans not bots ?

Many of us proclaimed the paperless society. Remember? what we did not count on was printers in every office. Last wee I just did my one year extension based on marriage. I should have taken a picture. without exaggeration I had generated a stack of papers half an inch high, of which I had to make another stack of copies. I got writer's cramp signing!! I must have signed over 20 items, then as we were finishing I was given a bunch of other papers to sign. Thais love their paperwork. If anything now we will have robots more efficiently making copies

Many are afraid of bots and robots and AI in general. They might take some jobs as you said. However, there will be new jobs in assembling, manufacturing and development. So if a job is lost here, there is a new job there.🙏

Emdog
Wife and I like to go to Japanese food chain here... they got similar robots to deliver food near the table. But still need a waitperson to take it out and place in front of customer. Total waste of resources at restaurant and at this hospital. But someone got a kickback, so....

connda
Five Thais out of a job. So foreigners are a national security risk because they may take jobs away from Thais. In the meanwhile, the same people who won't allow foreigners to perform "Thai Only Work" take jobs away from Thais and give the jobs to robots. When are we going to hear about Thais complaining that robots are taking jobs reserved for Thais only? Now there is a logic-trap.
