I agree with the OP,  but I shudder at the devastating consequences of an expat bar closing  in Phuket.

Like the other poster stated, definitely BigNok.  Agree with the above post.  Why would anybody buy a bar here with VERY few exceptions.

For many it's a last desperate throw of the dice to be able to stay here.

Update: He is still here in Jomtein. Not sure what his financial situation is.

probably sitting at someone else's bar with a large chang moaning about the ladyboy that ripped him off.

I suppose I could check the carnage on his youtube channel, but why ever would I do that?

once was enough (too much)

His mate was on his YouTube channel a few weeks ago also begging for money because his wife stole his truck, or something like that.

I simply can't imagine being so desperate for any sort of companionship that you are willing to overlook every red flag and completely abandon common sense.

and most of the time the women aren't even good-looking (or in this dude's case even a biological woman).

Shameless. I felt embarrassed just watching it.

Ok we've all made dumb financial decisions over the years, but why advertise it just because they're in Thailand.

When you are sitting in a place like Pattaya that's easier said then done. There may not be a lot if decent women around. The alternative is just living stag in an area where everyone else is using prostitutes and feeling like an outsider, or moving to another location.

I assume every third or forth farang in Pattaya is Russian who brought cash with him and desperately looking to start business. Instead of recording this pathetic flick he should learn "Hello comrade! Wanna co-own a bar?" in Russian.
I heard some dude just invested into car rental business in Phuket and Pattaya insane load of money.

Or one of those guys who starts asking you a bunch of personal questions and never talks about himself for some reason. Trying to figure out how you seem to be doing Ok when they failed.

His Facebook page says he won the case against his ex who stole the bar.

But I don't think he will get any money back. The money and bar is gone.

Very depressing Topic.

When one comes to think of it, maybe Pattaya is just chock full of losers looking for their slice of paradise.

All those bums sitting out at cheap open-air restaurants.

Cheap food.

Cheap company.

Most cannot even speak a sentence of passa Thai.

What depressing lives they lead.

In my view, the ONLY way to live in Thailand is to "give-back" and contribute in some meaningful way.

Also, it can't be a part-time thing.

Must be almost everyday...or.....then.....

Life gets too boring and depressing around a place like Pattaya.

What a bunch of bums....just looking at several videos this Hard_Up guy has posted on his YT channel.

BUMS!

What kind of lives did they have in their home countries, one wishes to know, just out of curiosity.

I do not live there but I have to disagree.

24/7 you can have fun in Pattaya.

It isn’t boring.

what are the acceptable alternatives, in your opinion?

Would they be a litany of rambling, disconnected, and nonsensical posts on a dying web forum for geriatric expats and fading sextourists?

Any alternative would be better.

The OP doesn't understand Youtube. Everyone on there begs for money. They want people to support their business whatever it is.

Not really. They create content to entertain or educate, and then ask to contribute a small amount if you have enjoyed their presentation. Nobody goes begging straight out. That is go-fund-me model.

When do you find the time to 'give back', in between the sheer amount of nonsense that you post here and viewing YouTube videos?

I've blocked you too just Now. Now things are even more perfect Now.

How can you not make money from a bar?  Let me guess he has two luxury condos, 3 rented cars and 6 girls on the go.

First went in 1994 and was bored out of my mind, most of the people on the tour had a look round and went to the travel agent to go somewhere else. If you do like it the most stupid thing to do is pay to open a bar in a prostitutes name, those mugs deserve all they get.

So you went on a package tour to Pattaya. Adventurous guy you are...🤣

Yes in 1994 is that a crime?
