Chonburi — A pickup truck driver narrowly escaped serious injury on Monday after reportedly falling asleep and veering off the road, plunging into a water-filled pit more than 10 meters deep.

The incident occurred on February 19th, 2024, along a road near Mueang Chonburi district. Police and the local rescue team responded to the scene and found a white Mitsubishi Triton pickup truck submerged in the pit.

Fortunately, the driver, identified as 51-year-old Mr. Thaweesap Kulbutr, had been assisted out by bystanders before authorities’ arrival. He was uninjured and did not provide a statement to the press.
