On March 5th, 2024, the Suvarnabhumi Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation, Customs Office, and relevant agencies received a report from airport security officers after detecting 87 wild animals stashed inside eight baggage items of six Indian tourists heading to Mumbai, India.

According to Suvarnabhumi security officers, more than 87 wild animals were seized after six Indian suspects went through security processing at the Suvarnabhumi Airport.

The wild animals included cotton-top tamarins, reptiles, macaws, lizards, red pandas, and other protected wildlife.

Did they really think they could get away with this? Their ignorance of airport security is staggering!

This is not the first time Indians caught at Suvarnabhum Airport smuggling animals, it is as normal as drug smuggling. They have to make these random arrest to prove their system is functioning. Below is 2022 report on 2 Indian women caught smuggling turtles and snakes

Well thank the government for pushing to get so many of these Indian and Chinese “tourists” here. It’s not surprising that this has happened, not the first time, and I’m sure it’ll happen again. Hope they lock them up and send them back home the way they were trying to smuggle those animals out.

Yeah, It amazes me the stupidity of some foreigners and their methods to smuggle things in and out of Thailand using the airports. When it would be so much safer smuggling them across a land border.

They more than likely paid someone off.

Who didn’t help them in the end.

Bet one of them was really a scouser 🤔

Lets hope they get long prison sentences and banned for life from travelling to any country outside of India again.

The cotton-top tamarin is on the critically endangered species list and red pandas are on a threatenend species list. To put them in a suitcase is just beyond cruel.
