ravip Posted March 8 Share Posted March 8 I agree. It's cruel to use a sling shot on any animal. But, if they become invasive... for example around your house, then you will understand this issue. Monkeys can be a real pain in the a$$ or more. Sometimes, the increase of these animal populations can be very dangerous and destructive when they start to invade. Australia culls kangaroos annually. The issue is that people are too stupid and feed the monkeys, so they become more brave, more dangerous etc and end up not being scared of humans so they 'encroach' and become pests. ------- We were in Koh Chang staying at a resort where the staff also fired slingshots at the monkeys... The staff had to, the Monkeys are nasty little b@5tards that are confident enough to try and get into your bungalow.... they'll steel your towels and anything you leave outside - they are vermin. But the worst part, they can attack. My Son walked out onto the veranda and there were a couple of monkeys there - they bared their teeth, aggressively hissed at my son and moved towards him... I was just behind him so they ran when I came out... but initially it looked like they were prepared to attack a child. IMO, the resort didn't do enough to ensure the area was safe for kids, but also, what else can the resort do ??? So, in cases such as this where Bob Smith will accuse Thai's of treating animals inhumanely, it is perhaps people like Bob who were too kind and over-fed the monkeys in the first place which created the situation which now exists... Point here Bob - you're pointing the finger at the negative, without understanding the probable cause.... The issue is when a child is there and not feeding them, the monkeys get angry and will attack. pgrahmm Posted March 8 Share Posted March 8 In the few times I've been around the monkey havens they've been unwatched, huge numbers, waiting to snatch/grab anything that might get their attention..... They're not cute & can be intimidating if you have a family/group to watch out for that catches their attention.... Even to the point of them jumping onto the hood of the car while we were trying to drive away....Sling shots are better than euthanizing them or paint ball guns.....
