There was an attempt by one famous lady Cynthia Payne to register her occupation as a prostitute for tax purposes. HMRC refused to accept her registration. She wrote a book about her experiences running a brothel

Yes, I'd forgotten about her. And I believe she had quite close connections with the government as well. 😉

I don't know how they pay tax but it's probably just down to using the correct job description.

What annoys me is that our glorious leaders kow tow to minority 'moralists' instead of recognising it exists and always has existed. It should be recognised and support systems should be in place just like any other 'profession' ,  instead of trying to sweep it under the carpet. Brothels are a lot safer for the girls than streetwalking or visiting clients homes and security guards can be employed

Just as the Conservative Party had settled in, eh?

Evidence, if ever it was needed, that this sort of entrepreneurial behaviour can only happen under the Tories.

What a flimsy excuse to bring politics into this post.

Sounds like all of your mates are Yanks.

He will if there's a human trafficking charge in there. Could get 14 years if any of the girls say they are there against their will.

And they probably will. When a brothel in Leeds was raided a few years back all the Thai girls working there said they'd been forced to work against their will, had their passports taken form them, were in huge debt etc. etc.

My ex wife and I often visited Thai get-togethers in the area and knew some of those girls - no way were they working against their will and none had been trafficked. They'd simply learned how much they could earn in the UK, arrived on tourist visas and overstayed.

While I do not entirely disagree with your comments, I would rather you quote me on what I actually said !!

I thought I had replied to with a quote of your comments. Apologies if I got it wrong.

Only continuing what Blair started

Sorry to say it happens under every government and every party.

No one wants to change the rules so that Asylkum is decided quickly and the person allowed to appeal after their plane has landed in whatever country they come from and has been returned.

Britain sure is taking it up the chute lately with government screw ups.
