Chanthaburi: Langsuan traditional longboat racing at Makham 16-17 April

Featured Replies

On the water again in Chanthaburi; in the last three weeks we've had the Singha WaterSports Powerboat Grand Prix at Laem Sing beach; longtail speedboat races at Khamong, and next month two days of Langsuan traditional longboat racing at Makham

To the OP, thanks for the heads up!

One of my laments in Thailand is that we often don't hear about these fun events in time to plan to attend or even participate.

You might like to make a note of the boat racing in Satuek, Buriram province.

It is in the beginning of November every year with  between 30 and 40 boats taking part.

Categories of races depends on boat size and number of paddles/boat.

Would you believe there is also an elephant swimming race?

I don't have the dates to hand for this years event but I expect it's on the internet somewhere.

Agreed. This is why I am so appreciative of getting Steve Yarold's weekly posting of upcoming events in Chiang Mai. A great idea for Thai Tourism ... publicly available list, regularly updated ... in English and Thai.
