In a heartfelt plea for justice, Mrs. Aomruthai Krajanswang, a 42-year-old resident of Ban Kurt in Prachuap Khiri Khan, has called attention to the death of her eldest son, Suphawis Krajanswang, 25, following a hit-and-run accident on March 8, 2024.

The alleged perpetrator, identified only as a German national, is accused of showing no remorse for the incident, prompting concerns about accountability and justice.

Suphawis, described by his mother as the “major pillar” of their family, was fatally struck by a Ford car while spending time near the beach at Ban Kurt after a volleyball practice session.

His untimely death has left a void in the lives of his parents, who are both vendors at the local market. Known for his hard work, savings discipline, and friendly demeanor among customers, Suphawis’s loss is deeply felt within the local community.

As it has been looking lately, this is most likely just another nutcase foreigner that feels like the big boss in Thailand. However, the news information does not say much. Do they have any proof he actually is the right person? If so, they would have arrested him, I guess. That remains to be seen.

If he is the perp and the police see it as he is at fault, then of course the family should have justice. What I am thinking about, is what kind of justice they are looking for? Is that to see the German get a sentence and sent to prison? Or is it just that they are looking for economic compensation, like a great payday? If the latter, my recommendation is that they seek to settle it in a civil case.

Not defending the German if he is guilty.. then throw the book at him of course...

But.. why is this one of the first times I've read of these potential charges...

Quote

Despite testing within legal limits for alcohol at the time of questioning, the suspect faces charges of reckless driving causing death and failing to render aid. The police are awaiting further tests to determine blood alcohol content levels.

'Failing to render aid' is a charge ?...  So it is illegal to escape the scene of an incident  ???

Or is this only a charge levied at non-Thai's when they 'hit and run' ???

Note any hit and run is a despicable act and needs to be punished significantly, regardless of position and nationality.

Note: "Efforts to confront the suspect began immediately following the accident, although initial attempts to make contact were hampered by the late hour and the suspect’s secured premises. Officers then questioned a 60-year-old German man the following morning, who has since denied involvement in the crash." Hua Hin link

Seems it's not until the next day for car inspection and drug/ alcohol test. Police probably had to get a search warrant to enter the house?

Hit and run with no remorse?

Find the German, throw him in jail and let him rot.....

They found him but cannot throw him in jail until he's been convicted and showing remorse (for something that he claimed he did not do) is not a requirement.  Neither is showing remorse even if he did do it.

If it’s a hit and run one can assume the driver is at large. Question: how did they know he was German?

"..one can assume the driver is at large".

or one could just read the OP.

Where the heck is the proof that it was a German that hit this kid?

Surely cctv or something to even suggest that.

Which would/could lead to finding damage on the vehicle that hit him.

Basic stuff really..

Agreed...   Surely the investigation has already determined that the tragic incident involved the Germans car, otherwise why would they have tried to test him etc.
