Chinese tourists have taken the top spot in terms of international tourist numbers for Thailand, according to the Pattaya Business and Tourism Association (PBTA).

 

The news was revealed during the PBTA regular meeting held on March 20th, 2024, at the Bangkok Pattaya Hospital conference room.

 

Mr. Boonanan Patanasin, president of the PBTA, presided over the meeting. Ms. Malika Sudsaneh, Deputy Director of the Pattaya Office of Tourism and Sports (TAT), along with government officials and representatives from Chonburi’s hospitality industry, were also present.

That alone should tell you to not invest in Thailand and not go to Thailand if from a western country. 

That's because Thailand is easy pickings for the Chinese, they'll exploit any area left open for criminal activity, having a well known corrupt police force just makes things even more attractive to them.

Yes and as pointed out by the economist Chartchai Parasuc in yesterday's paper:"Tourist spending is now much lower ,44% than in pre covid years from 45700/tourist to 31730/tourist. And also the only tourists they can get. Making a concrete and palms mess along some of the seaside resorts does no  help

This is riveting news but sadly only for rivets 🤔

Interesting they decided to trumpet this fact anyway ... Chinese tourists numbers have been a disappointment, both years post Wuhan flu. None more so this last Lunar New Year. Yes many came but nowhere near the numbers they had hoped for. Perhaps the good people of Thailand can rest easier even if the Celestial Tourist spigot is only at partial flow, they are still preferable to those unholy westerners. As the people now know after this, farang be evil, month.

Some of the daughters (at legal age) are damn tidy specimens.. Shame about that whole one child malarky, makes the daughters (at legal age) a bit of a rare breed.

All Thailand is interested in is tourist and there money not quality,look at what the Russian, Swiss, British and Kiwis have been up to lately in the news.Thailand you made your  own bed now you except the consequences.

The Chinese have been doing this for generations. And they are smarter at it than Westerners.

 

Where a Western man will marry a Thai woman and then put property etc. into her name...a Chinese will marry a Thai, have a child and then put the property etc. under the child's name!
