Hua Hin’s Mayor has confirmed that the water supply to large parts of Hua Hin will be suspended from today (April 10) ahead of the Songkran festival which will still go ahead and which is due to get underway from Thursday (April 11).

Hua Hin’s water management authorities have said there will be a temporary suspension of the water supply from the Khao Laeng Water Production Plant.

The suspension, aimed at reallocating water resources to meet the festival’s heightened demand, will affect significant portions of the city from 09:30 to 15:30.

They are shutting off water and sending trucks with water to people?

The situation is probably much worse then it seems. But, I am surprised this is not a wider problem as water is wasted here, and rain in many areas has been negligible.  Hope they figure it out.

What about all those house developpers in Hin Lek Fai- Hua Hin who are totally irresponsable and encourage over watering of private lawns or do not attend to leaks in the underground water pipes within their developpments that have leaks and waste ?

Authorities must impose sanctions and fines to such developpers who are openly neglecting their duties and wasting precious water.

So will street water fights continue... ?

How is that managing the water shortage?

The water for Hin Lek Fai comes from Pranburi Dam and is separate to the main town of Hua Hin.

So let me see if I'm following this right:

They're planning to shut down or significantly lessen household water supplies to a wide range of areas in the province today and through the weekend during morning to mid-afternoon hours as the temperatures exceed 40C...

...So that there will be enough water for Song Kran revelers to waste on drunkenly splashing each other on the streets of the province...so as to not interfere with tourism????

Quote

The suspension, aimed at reallocating water resources to meet the festival’s heightened demand,...

Officials apologised for the inconvenience and assure the public that these measures are necessary to ensure a sustainable water supply for the Songkran festival, a time of significant cultural importance and increased water usage.

And meanwhile, the day before, there's a news report with the province governor talking about emergency declarations in a large number of districts because there's not enough water and the reservoir levels are low...so low that they're having problems supplying enough water for agriculture.

Where's the sense in any of this???

I remember a few years ago, when they limited the water supply to the poorer areas but were still watering the golf courses.
