Motorcyclist Hit by Truck's Torn Roof in Chon Buri Tunnel

A drama unfolded yesterday when a truck with a high roof attempted to drive through a tunnel but ended up with its roof ripped off. The detached roof crashed into a following motorcyclist, injuring him.

The incident took place around 10 pm on May 7th in the Chak Samo tunnel located in the Mueang district, Chon Buri province. Local police from the Don Hua Lo station, along with a rescue team from the Trai Kunatham Foundation, were quick to arrive at the scene.

On the scene, the police found a bronze Mitsubishi Triton with a Bangkok license plate, number 1ฒฌ 8595, parked inside the tunnel. In the truck, they discovered several one-liter bottles of 'kratom' juice along with a sign advertising the sale of 'kratom' leaves. The truck's high roof, visibly damaged, had fallen onto a Yamaha motorcycle, license plate number 1ขค102, causing the bike to topple over.

Following the mishap, the truck driver confronted a journalist who was reporting the incident. He demanded there be no pictures or news of the 'kratom' juice. He did not cooperate with the reporter and left the scene.

Vinai, a 33-year-old and the affected motorcyclist, shared that he was tailing the truck at a high speed when the roof of the truck struck the edge of the bridge, became dislodged, and fell onto his motorcycle. He has likely broken a finger and also suffered an arm bruise in this incident, as reported by KhaoSod.

The police are investigating the truck driver and the 'kratom' juice found in the truck, which is an illegal substance per Thai law. They are planning to bring legal action against the driver and until then, the investigation continues.

I thought they had legalised Kratom.  Or did they repeal that too?

That's the problem with motorcycling in Thailand. No matter how experienced or careful you are , there are a lot of unforseen variables out there ready to spoil your day.
