Labour leader Keir Starmer has declared that his party would immediately cease all deportation flights to Rwanda upon winning the general election. This announcement comes amidst escalating debates surrounding the Tory scheme for processing asylum seekers and increasing concerns over illegal immigration.

 

Speaking passionately in Deal, Starmer underscored his commitment to scrapping the Rwanda deportation scheme entirely, labeling it as both a "gimmick" and a "waste of money." He emphasized the need for a more robust approach to border security, advocating for the establishment of a border security command to replace the controversial deportation program.

 

The decision to halt deportation flights to Rwanda has sparked polarized reactions, with Home Secretary James Cleverly dismissing Labour's stance as "comic" and "ridiculous." Cleverly defended the government's initiative, arguing that it was still in its early stages and had the potential to yield positive results in addressing illegal migration.

That's the real issue... immigration officers should wear ear protection and not hear the word "Asylum" 

put them back on whatever mode of transport they used and send them back.

Nothing will really change. Starmer will stand on a beach and blether, the people smuggling gangs (highly lucrative) will ignore him, the lawyers advocating for the migrants (highly lucrative) will ignore him, the French will ignore him (unless they can screw even more money out of the UK for their ineffective policing activity).

 

It is fascinating that there does seem to be an almost inexhaustible supply of big rubber dinghies and outboard motors. Bizarrely, I read somewhere that when they reach the UK they are seized, auctioned off cheaply, shipped back across the Channel and used again!

Another example of how a Labour government will continue to put the interests of often illegal immigrants ahead of the interests of hard working, law abiding, British people - should they be elected.

 

One can only hope that the British people wake up before the election is called. If they don't, I'm afraid to say they will deserve what they get.

I did read it somewhere, in the last couple of weeks, and no I didn't record who wrote it or where.

 

Perhaps I have a different approach to discussions than you. I neither have a photographic memory nor a STASI like operation to record who said what, when and where, to use to crush and bully into silence anyone who dares to step beyond the bounds of what you have ordained as appropriate political or social opinions.

 

Mind you neither do I have the interest or energy to ceaselessly patrol these forums looking for fights as you clearly do! As I said, a different approach!

Allowing illegal immigrants to stay in Britain instead of deporting them is not "dealing with the problem", neither is it an act of kindness.

 

It is causing damage to Britain and the British people.

That being the case, why did the current Government defund the asylum clearance system and thereby fail to remove bogus asylum seekers?

 

Nobody objects to bogus asylum seekers being deported.

As a legal immigrant in Thailand, who has jumped many hurdles, I feel strongly that any illegal immigrant should be sent home immediately, or to a hellhole like Rwanda.

If Labour initiatives to reduce the number of boats landing are successful, the question of deporting those who do arrive becomes less of an issue.

They did that before.. one was Penally Army Camp .. the smashed the place up and demonstrated because they said the conditions were to bad ( I stayed there a fair bit.. not great but livable).... which is a bit rich considering most of them say they are fleeing persecution and fear of being killed... If I had to put up with  rough conditions but knew I would not be kidnapped or killed in the middle of the night I would be happy....

I agree, but I also know that it will not happen. Humans are a greedy and vile species.

IMO all those illegal immigrants want to live the same life as they see on tv shows, and they are not wanting to make it a better world.
