Examining Trump's Lead Over Biden in Key Battleground States

Recent polling conducted by The New York Times/Siena College/Philadelphia Inquirer reveals that former President Trump currently holds a lead over President Biden in hypothetical head-to-head general election match-ups in five out of six key battleground states. The polling, conducted from April 28 to May 9, indicates Trump leading among registered voters in Pennsylvania, Arizona, Michigan, Georgia, and Nevada, with Biden only maintaining a lead in Wisconsin.

Among registered voters, Trump's lead ranges from 47 percent to 50 percent, while Biden's support falls between 38 percent to 47 percent in the mentioned battleground states. However, when considering likely voters, the difference narrows, with Biden's performance slightly improving in some states. Notably, in Michigan, Biden manages to secure a 1-point lead over Trump among likely voters, whereas in Wisconsin, Trump leads Biden by a slim margin.

Even when third-party and independent candidates are included in the polling, Trump maintains a lead over Biden across most states. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. emerges as the third-place candidate in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, and Pennsylvania.

It's noteworthy that the polling results have remained relatively consistent since October 2023, with Trump consistently leading Biden in most states except for Wisconsin. However, the Biden campaign remains confident, citing inconsistencies in polling data and highlighting other polls that show Biden in the lead.

According to Biden pollster Geoff Garin, many voters are still undecided, and the Biden campaign is actively engaging in voter outreach efforts to win them over. The Trump campaign has not yet issued a statement regarding the polling results.

The polling sample included 4,097 registered voters across the mentioned battleground states, with a margin of error ranging from 1.8 to 4.6 percentage points depending on the state. The national polling average from The Hill/Decision Desk HQ suggests a close race between Trump and Biden, with Trump holding a slight lead when including Kennedy in the polling average.

In some 2020 polls of the same matchup, as high as 60% of those polled were undecided. In the subject 2024 survey there is no mention of undecided voters. Only mentioned are those voters who are "decided."

Given Trump's comments to Republican registered voters that he doesn't need their vote if they are not full MAGA, and significant abandonment by high profile Republican politicians (ie., former VP Pence, former Trump cabinet/senior administration members) on record to vote for Biden, the alleged thin lead of Trump over Biden in swing states can quickly disappear on election day.

Good luck with that...

Indeed it can. It might not either.

A week is a long time in politics, so who knows what will happen in the next 5 months? Either could die or be incapacitated, a full scale war might have broken out in the M E, nuclear winter may have descended over Europe; who knows.

As usual, people will vote depending on the situation at the time of the vote.

I looked at the poll  ,unfortunately for the 40 % of Americans that care about Democracy it might be done.  I watched Putin strut through his "inauguration" and the  fools in calm adulation applauding him.  This will be America next year.  10%  of American voters say they will vote for RFK jr. 36%  for Biden 11% undecided.   Young voters are disenchanted with Biden's handling of Gaza -think about that  -so they are going to support either by voting for R's or not voting a party that is lockstep with Netyanhu .   When the SC gets two more NAZIS on it they will lament the further erosion of their rights and then blame the Dems for not running a stronger candidate ,all the while the R's will vote for a babbling idiot that orchestrated an attack on the Capitol and then as CIC did nothing to protect it.

vote Green not Greed.

I certainly hope your observations make the November election a decided rejection of Trump and his ilk. Unfortunately, I think there is real danger that I am losing my country. Fraught as it is with serious society faults/corruption I still believe in the concept ideals. There is just too much justified frustration/anger and ignorance to be ignored. Both major political parties have yet to show any signs that they recognize serious changes must be made or ... the concept fails. One post recently stated that once the polls close the final results should be declared ... ignorance? Or purposely stating my Absentee Ballot should not be counted as many electoral districts, Absentee Ballot counting/reporting only takes place after polls close ...

Sadly the "green party" in many countries has apparently abandoned the environment to concentrate on loony tunes idiocies like cycle paths that cost millions of $ and trying to ban cars from city centers.

IMO only woke nutters vote green now.

It's because of posts like that that I hope Trump wins, and not just wins, but destroys Biden. I want to see the snowflakes bawling again, but harder than last time.

You want to see a bigger insurrection after Trump loses?

They are much more informative , compared to prior elections.

The Gop has a massed many legal experts to stand at the precincts

in the swing states!

They are currently proposing the Save Act in the house which requires only US citizens can vote , funny thing is

there is a law on the books that only US citizens can only vote in federal elections. I don’t see it getting any traction in the Senate.

That being said eyes & ears open , fingers crossed and hope the election takes place barring any emergencies that would prevent it!

It seems the GOP is spending much resources to keep the ridiculous and debunked Big Lie alive! 😀
