Yes, I have a Form SSA-1099, but it has my old address.

 

And so the system rejects me.

 

I did everything the way I was told to, and am now massively screwed as a result.

Remember, they require all of this identification simply to schedule the video interview.

 

Their AI is obviously very advanced since it knows to reject the other forms of identification I presented in hopes of being accepted as my third ID and thus getting the interview, so they KNOW my passport and my Social Security card are good; they were accepted by the system.

 

How do I present a U.S. state ID when I don't live in a U.S. state?  How do I submit a change of address request when it is required that the SSA-1099 I submit have my current address?

 

They know I am a U.S. citizen and they know I am receiving Social Security benefits.  How does that alone not rate a video interview?

What would happen were I to present myself to the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok with only a U.S. passport and Social Security Card in hand?  Would I be turned away for lack of proof of citizenship?

SSA.GOV International is responsible for SSA.GOV benefit payments and there are no Medical Medicare Disability payments outside the USA borders unless the USA citizen has forged their address as inside the USA not as living outside the USA...

taking extremely long delays,  intercepted at and by a metal desk in Manila in charge of ASIA from Australia to China....

That effing authenticator is a pure nightmare! I bought an Android that makes wifi calls and have an account with Tello.com. For less than $8/month, this setup has saved my bacon every month. WELL worth the price!

Well, it's long past September -- and today (12/17/2024) I could still log into my SSA account with the old system (no Login.gov or ID.me required). I wonder how much longer this will exist, 'cause setting up the new options is a PITA?)

Last year I set up LOGIN.GOV for the wife and ID.me for myself.  We've been using those methods for over a year now.  LOGIN.GOV is easier to use.

 

A couple of days ago I noticed that SSA.GOV still offered the option to Sign in with Social Security Username.  I tried it and it still works.  Since it's a much simpler and faster method I'l continue with it rather than the convoluted ID.me process.

I never had a cell phone and live in the U.S.  In the last year or so, I purchased a vehicle and some acreage. They tried to make it seem as if I needed a cell phone to complete these transactions.  Eventually it WILL be that way.  I will no longer be able to get on my health vet or SS, nor can I change my bank account with the VA. . I’m in Vietnam and had to verify my Social Security account after they changed the login system. No US line, and didn’t trust those free number apps. Used 7sim.net - found a US mobile number, no signup needed. SMS came through in 2 minutes. Used the same number later for a banking portal - still active. Numbers seem to stay live for a few hours, which was enough for me. Didn’t have to borrow a phone or explain to someone why I need their number.
