Ridiculous to charge the outlets... they have no control over what happens after the sale.

DUI mandatory one year ban, retest after one year to gain a license and double the cost of insurance.

Any injuries caused during an accident the ban is 5 years plus criminal charges related to the injuries

Death caused by the accident 10 year jail sentence, no parole.

Interesting thought, and to a point, I agree, BUT, if they sell to a minor or they sell to someone that is already intoxicated, then they should be charged or held libel.

Consider that in Ontario, if you hold a party and someone leaves your party, gets in their car, and has an accident while DUI, then you also can be sued and held libel.

The big deal, as with everything, is enforcement and the Thai people's ability to disrespect the law.  First, you have the police, who will not enforce minor laws like helmets and drinking.  So Somchai gets ticketed and loses his licence.  The next day, he is back on his or someone else bike riding as if there is not a care in the world.  He has an accident, and because he is poor, nothing happens to him.

Personally, I think ride-stops should be near large parking lots or fields. There should also be big 18-wheelers parked there. If you get stopped and you are close to being over, they park the car, take a taxi, and go to the police station the next day to get the keys and drive home. If you are on a Nike, they load the bike into the back of the 18-wheeler. If you are over, they keep the bike and/or car until after you go to court.

The real injustice here is the amount of people who are killed or maimed by drunk drivers.

Start by giving them commensurate punishments, don't let them walk away by paying medical bills, etc.

Trying to tackle the entire issue of minors being sold alcohol, or the hundreds of thousands of other drunk drivers who don't get into accidents, simultaneously, will make this a non-starter, for sure!

Yeah, terrible choice of photo for this article. Notice it's a left-hand drive car too... wonder where that was taken.

And of course the Rich will continue to get away with everything as they always do.   They just need one sentence...''Do you know who i am ? ''   !

It would be a step in the right direction, if the present rules and laws would be strictly enforced. Take the past highway robbery by the local police clowns. Meanwhile there are cameras everywhere and fine collection works - all of a sudden - into the right direction now. Go and compare the fine income from the pre-covid area to the coming years - per year. Mind boggling, how much money was syphoned into clouds of steam 😉
