Internet banking on Linux: Anyone know a bank in Thailand that supports this?

Hi Folks,

 

As you know, I am now moving to total Linux in my Life.

 

So, which banks in Thailand support Internet Banking on Linux?

 

I will move to any bank which can provide me support for Internet Banking on Linux.

 

Any thoughts?

 

I know that Linus would approve.

I know that Richard Stallman would approve.

It is not fair that Banking Apps do not, in the majority, support Unix.

 

What true craziness!

 

There must be a bank in Thailand that supports the up and coming Linux OS!

 

I no longer have access to either Windows nor Apple.

 

Therefore, which banks in Thailand support Linux?

 

I am ready to move.....today or tomorrow.

 

I believe in Linux.

 

I believe in opensource, unless it's shared with the CCP.

Eminently fair. FreeBSD, for example, derived from Unix, has an infinitesimal market share. It doesn't run on phones. But iOS is also derived from Unix and runs banking apps just fine.

 

I detect true craziness here, but not on the part of the banks.

Android is a Linux variant and also runs banking apps. Linux is not a fork or a derivative of Unix.

 

Most if not all banks have apps for Android. On the desktop, the banks offer online banking via web browsers, regardless of OS. So you may login to your bank's online banking facility using Firefox or Chromium running under FreeBSD, if you wish.

Correct.

But, the bank app running Chrome on Windows is almost impossible to set up.

 

A Thai bank app for computer, and not for phone.

I don't understand what you want.

 

AFAIK, for desktop/laptop computers, no banks use anything other than a browser to interface to their internet banking service that resides on the mainframe/server(s) in their data center.

 

The browser only handles the interface to the user and does none of the processing required to perform any banking function.  All the logic processing, input verification and security processing is done on the server.

 

Therefor, there are no desktop/laptop banking applications.  The browser merely fulfills its role of formatting and displaying the information it receives (as html) from the banking application over the data connection to the bank's data center.

I run BKK Bank, K Bank and UOB on chrome.

 

Was easy to get running once I-banking was registered with the respective banks but I log into a web page... not an App.

So, I have been thinking of running an Android phone app using VM ware on my Linux boxes.

 

This way, I can get rid of the KBank Chrome app.

 

And, I can run the Android Banking app for KBank using an Android Emulator.

 

NOW DO YOU SEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????

 

This is what I want.

 

BUT....I already tried it....and....

 

No Work, as the Thais say.

 

((Everything was working FINE, until KBank stopped supporting the OS on my NOTE4....  YOU SEE????????????????????)

 

I will NOT buy an upgrade from Samsung, yet.....

 

And, the KBank Browser app is too difficult to set up.

 

So, I was thinking.....  Just run a higher level of the Android OS on my computer.

Now do you see my quandary?????

I still have a few years to go before dementia strikes me BIG TIME, like what has happened to Trump.

 

Anyway, I still want to use Marshmallow to do my banking at KBank, and other banks here.

 

Is this too much to ask??????

 

 

OR, I just want an easy-to-set-up Browser App, to be used with internet banking, same as I use with my American Express Account.

I have no need to buy a new Android phone from Samsung if I can just solve this problem by running a more advanced Android OS, more advanced than marshmallow, on my Linux computers.....

I just don't want to pay money to Samsung.....

I HATE THEM, actually....

My new BUDGET computer (about USD1500) has more than enough RAM (64GB) and CPU power to run several vms simultaneously without any noticeable degradation in performance.

 

So then, why not just not buy a phone, and why not just run the newest Android OS on my Linux computers?

Probably not.

But, it SHOULD be able to be done.

 

This way, all of us can stop being slaves to companies such as Samsung and Apple, etc., etc., etc., 

 

That would be a perfect world.....IMHO....

 

I have no need for a fast smartphone in my life.....

 

I only have need for a very fast desktop....

These programs are basically just lousy, and are designed, I guess, for Android gamers to test games on their Windows computers.

 

Total GARBAGE.

 

But, I have never tested Android OS emulators on Linux.

Still, I doubt they are ready for prime time, as a solid solution.

 

Am I wrong?

 

Or, am I demented?

IMO the OP is confused.

 

Linux is an operating system. One connects to a bank through a browser such as Firefox or Chrome. A pox on Internet Explorer, or whatever Microsoft calls it now.

 

I am on Linux. I use Firefox to connect with Kasikorn Bank online. End of story.
