I prefer to drink home alone. As for the woman in the OP, she was probably hoping for an invite to join. Edited June 23 by BritManToo

Now the shrewdest of our ANF Life Coaches have always promoted that short but happy life ending with a smile on one's face during a bonk. Longer life merely means a longer time suffering in the bedsit. Healthy lifestyle = stress. We all know of The Guys: The Guys I know some guys who seemed healthy but have already died. As opposed to our guarantor, The Relative: The Relative A relative of mine did nothing special and lived to 95. Oh, I will too. It's me genes. What's ignored by our Medicated Lifestyle proponents is that chasing after docs, meds, hospitals, insurance, paying medical bills, carrying around a belly, suffering premature physical and mental decline, pain controlled by medication. When you think about it, the quality achieved becomes rather doubtful . . . Well, I hope I'm lucky then - 66 and healthy and enjoy 4/5 days of nice wine a week.

A life long sitting job career also reduces life with up to 5-6 years. In most blue zones in the world, were people get the oldest by far, they drink a lot of wine and beer. Wine from lunch is the standard, not the exception. And guess what: over 50% of the people have obesitas, they have a lot of stress and they also mostly sit on their ass all day. Yet almost nobody would point that out. Japan and Hong Kong people live the longest. Not sure how much they drink, probably far less than westerners. Popular Post EVENKEEL
I know drinking alone has a bad rep but I'm comfortable with being alone. Used to be a few guys around who were early drinkers and the bar maid was a good laugh. She's gone, one of the guys died and the other just stopped coming around. For me going to the beach with a few iced beers, a joint, a cigar, float around between beers is a great stress reliever. 3

It is ok to be bored, increases the creativity. Have more time for those around me who is important to me, and give more time, energy and freedom to travel. bkk6060
Just about everyone I know who drinks in the morning or everyday wants to stop. You know it is true. But with weak addictive personalities, it is very difficult. Talking about it as if it is cool seems to justify it in their minds. Listening to old person brag about their drinking to me seems disgusting and immature. Maybe leave it to the 20 year olds in college.

More than 2 beers a week is bad for you. read any article on alcohol - it is poisonous for the body. Yeah misconceptions on healthy drinking of 1-2 glasses of wine or beer and yeah it has been around for thousands of years because some people like to zone out so to speak. Read the WHO report on alcohol or Wikipedia definition, first and second on the google search of "alcohol" and if one doubts the results of over use of said subject then one only glanced at the articles and failed to comprehend what was written in clear English. In my younger days, I had a beer now and then - occasionally two or three - but one hangover cured me of that. Then I might have a beer at a social gathering but in the last 25+ years not a drop and haven't missed it. But, if one can afford it (financially, healthwise and safely) it is up to you. Yellowtail
The Japanese do not drink that much comparatively. A lot of countries, including but not limited to the US, UK, Germany, Spain, Ireland, France, Switzerland, Denmark, Australia, Belgium all drink more. Also, life expectancy numbers are calculated differently in different countries, so it is pretty hard to find good data.
