I also just got the new Qdenda vaccine for dengue fever 2 weeks ago. Bangkok hospital was running a special. Dengue a big and growing problem in SE Asia!

Yes, most hospitals are running that 5,000 Baht special right now. I've gotten both doses already. I got a nasty cold (not covid and no fever) that lasted 2 weeks and started two days after the first dose. Probably just coincidence and unrelated. Second dose had zero side effects.

Dengue growing problem worldwide.

Between January and May this year, nearly 30,000 cases of dengue fever were reported in Thailand. Twenty-nine people have died from the disease, but the number is expected to rise up to 280 by the end of the year, according to the DDC.

An earlier posted mentioned about testing for gonorrhea and Chlamydia in the throat. This is true and, while less common, should likely be tested for via throat swab culture once a year, for those you are oral receptive partners of a penis (i.e., straight women and gay/bi men).

Presumably if there was a throat infection of either of those there would be some noticeable symptoms, possibly more though for Gonorrhea than Chlamydia.

More women seem to be more willing to engage in oral sex too as they perceive it as being more cleanly.

That... and they are less likely to get emotionally attached to their partner or otherwise experience negative emotions.

They don't seem to do throat swabs here so it's likely many men are carriers without knowing. Urine test won't pick it up, BTW men can get it from oral sex on a woman i did

A swollen and or sore throat which can be misdiagnosed as something else, so could be carrying it for months

You might be right. I think one of the first 2 on the list might do it. Possibly also the STD clinic in the tropical diseases hospital might do it.

Sorry that most of the comments here are unhelpful and stupid.  Of course, this crosses everyone's mind.  If you go into any drugstore, you will almost certainly see prominently displayed drugs ending with -vir.  They are herpes treatments.  Apparently, herpes is rampant here.

1 in 5 Americans has one of the two forms of Herpes. Same for much of the West. So 20% of the population has it. If you know 10 people then at least 2 of them have it.

Not just stds, but catching anything anywhere through normal interactions. The traditional kissie kissie greeting back 'home' with the other sex etc is mildly irritating. About the only positive of Covid, aside from quiet roads, was putting sway to that carry-on, but I see it has become a thing again. 😋

I never feared getting any sexually transmited anything. I boom boomed a lot in the first15-16 years, sometimed sheathed, sometimes not.

I put on a puppet now and then.  She doesn't laugh as much as she used to.  I did punch and judy the other night.  No chance of STDs but we would like to try it.

Friend got Hepatitis. Now he has to pay about $1K monthly or half of that for Indian generics. He used to be gorgeous powerlifter later he looks like <deleted>. So sorry for his ignorance. Lovely guy, the friend for life.

Where did you learn to speak Thai ?

A quick reminder that unprotected oral sex can also infect with various STD's or even HIV if there is microscopic blister or cut. At your own risk....

That’s really sad. Hep B or C he got?

Many years ago I was with a girl for about 6 months. Then she found a bigger better deal and ran off with a guy to Europe. Then she called me a few months later from Europe to tell me she had Hep B since before she knew me and that I should probably get tested. I didn’t sweat it because I was vaccinated for A & B over 30 years ago and with enough boosters afterwards that I should have lifetime immunity now. Good thing is after you’ve been vaccinated you can get tested once every couple of years to check your level of immunity and see if you need a booster or not.

Hep C is the real problem one now though. No vaccine and not really any great treatments for it.

This is anecdotal, but a guy I knew about 15 years ago got a blood transfusion at a hospital in Pattaya after being in an accident and the blood gave him Hep C. He didn’t last that long after that.

thank you for a warning. I thought that happens only in Africa. but here?

Ok, keep stories running ...

My schoolmate went to dentist for a basic filler. Middle Eastern dentistry in New Europe. got Hep C. started antiviral medications. Screwed up his immune system. Throat cancer arrived in no time. 185 cm tall guy became a shadow of himself. less than 55kg. metastases. couldn't talk and fed himself through the hole in the belly. begged his mother to sell their flat so he can go to Military Hospital in USA - she refused "Medicare is free here". gone.

Great musician, amazing friend and easy going guy.

Yes, the Hep C stories are never pleasant. That one in Pattaya I told is probably uncommon so I wouldn’t worry about it too much, but shiit does and can happen.

At this point, you’re probably better off getting HIV than Hep C. Sounds crazy, but at least HIV can be put to sleep.

I can't edit my post, but I have to add:

I was in chat with him since "I got some problems with swallowing" until "No response".

and the part when he became a lab rat to some French company, chemo treatments nightmares and other details I omitted.
