New Immigration form for retirement extensions.

Not sure if anyone has yet come across or been asked to complete this 'affidavit' when applying for a 1-year extension based on retirement.

As Roi Et is my Immigration office, I was alerted to it by a friend who saw a YouTube clip where it was mentioned by Integrity Legal.

 

Going to collect my own 1-year extension stamp today (based on Thai spouse), I asked about the document.

 

 

According to RE Imm, this is being rolled out across all Immigration offices for completion by those applying for extensions based on retirement only.

This is basically an affidavit which you are required to complete and sign.

The English spelling and grammar, as usual, leaves a lot to the imagination.

This in addition to how many other extension of stay forms with name, address etc.? Given that they already will have a bank letter, statement and quite possibly a full copy of bankbook, they know how much money the applicant has on the day of extension. The Thais just love their paperwork, copies and multiple signatures.

It's legit, who do you think gave me the copy I pasted.

The form you sign acknowledging penalties for an overstay doesn't have a TM number either, but it's legit.

Well I have three bank accounts and transfer funds internationally to two of them and fund the other one within Thailand, but only show one for my extensions.

I don't transfer in monthly.

For example I will have zero transfers for 2024.

In most years I will have only one transfer to my visa qualifying account.

The form sounds simple minded.

So I assume you convert to baht on the day of application.

For U.S. people if there is deductions for Medicare do they want gross amount or net?

Obviously only the net is available.

I fear anything not boiler plate like their form implies will make their heads explode and then give us problems that we don't deserve.

O.K. but as you say the requirements are confusing. Did you clarify the points with them?

It's not really hearsay. I think the form is being used there now.

The question is if this is a rogue office thing or something that will be done nationally.

The request for information about pension money might suggest that. If so it's something above that which has been necessary for previous extensions.

You could be right JT, but why only for people on retirement extensions? Surely those on marriage extensions are subject to the same tax rules?

Let's wait for widespread use of this form.

Does this form need to be filled by all who apply for a retirement extension? There are 2 ways to qualify financially for a retirement extension, by monthly deposits or by bank balance. Is this form only for the monthly deposit method?

Barely readable. If they're going to roll it out to all offices, they might consider having it translated into English.

This is the video he alerted me to, and as the form originated from Roi Et Immigration and I just happened to be visiting the following day, I obviously became inquisitive, asked a few questions, and obtained a copy.

It's not about taxes, I asked, and they had no idea what I was talking about.

 

According to the IO's, this is the applicant confirming all monies come from pensions, and the financial evidence they are submitting is true.

One IO gave a reason for the new form before another IO intervened, became cranky, evasive, and started questioning why I wanted to know.

So what if the monies don't come from pensions? No extension?

 

Looks to me as someone in Roi Et decided he can have his own rules and invented a new document. I do not believe that if this was issued by immigration head office that it would be so poor English

But the monies are supposed to come from pensions, read Immigration orders.

I can only tell you what they told me, and that was, it would be used nationwide.

There was a clipboard full of these new forms alongside the STM2 forms, acknowledgement of overstay rules, and the 'statement' forms.

I live here 16 years on a retirement extension, and I didn't have a pension for 15 of those years.

Most people, 50 year of age, don't have a pension and have retirement extensions.

I suggest stop posting, because with every post you lose more credibilty

Funds in a Thai bank are separate from using the income method.
Income should be from pensions, even the Embassies issuing Income letters are requesting proof of income from pensions.

I'm just you guys a heads-up on a new form that Immigration advised me will be rolled out nationwide for extensions based on retirement.

The form is not speculation, I have a hard copy, scanned it, and posted it for your observations.

Unless I missed it, on that form I don't see an option for those using the money in bank option.

 

Again, my feeling is that some IMO in Roi Et invented this form, because he can. Why would head office start this in a province with the least applicants.

Chonburi or Bangkok would be where they started it

Well that's wrong because there is definitely no rule that all money needs to come from pensions!
