THe new 60 day visa exempt and other measures are meant to start today - has anyone personal or hard evidence that they have started?

Its still just media double speak to gain readers. The PM said he endorses it for today but I believe it still has to be published in the Gazette. Everyone loves to jump the gun so to speak any time there's any type of change discussed the media is the worse at putting out completely factual info.

Why don't they copy Vietnam? Just DO IT! And talk later.... Is anyone in charge?

"According to Resolution 128/NQ-CP, effective from August 15, 2023, Vietnam officially grants a 45-day visa exemption from the date of entry, regardless of passport type or entry purpose, to citizens of 13 countries: South Korea, Japan, Russia, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain ..."

At 00:00 I thought in 5 minutes we will know, and in a couple of hours it will be posted on AN. How wrong I was.

bumped

Bangkok Post reports that the PM said he will sign off on Monday so until he does that and an announcement is gazetted it will still be 30 days. Been reported that Gazette announcements are done daily so maybe 60 days can still be effected 15/7 "sometime" but more likely a day or two later......TIT style.

TAT saw to it that the date 15 July was publicized all over the world in the international media (eg Bloomberg yesterday), and in many national media of Thailand's tourist markets (eg China, Taiwan, European countries).

No loss of face whatsoever

Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin posted on Monday a message on his X social media account to inform about Thailand new visa measures, as follows:
"To complement the recent ranking by World of Statistics as the fourth most beautiful country in the world, we will soon be granting 60-day visa exemption for nationals from 93 countries and territories and visa-on-arrival for nationals from 31 countries and territories. Apart from that, under the Ignite Thailand vision, we are granting a 180-day visa for digital nomads and those traveling to Thailand to take courses in Muay Thai and Thai cuisine, as well for seminar, organizing music festival and art exhibition, and medical treatment purposes."

What you've posted there with that NOTE is the original MFA announcement from May 29th (as you can see at the bottom).

They've gone through those "legal procedures"; the Minister of the Interior signed off on the new measures on Friday and the Prime Minister said he'll do the same today. Then they will be published and implemented.

Noticed this..

'Admitted ผ.60 ม.17'

ผ.60 is referred to a Tourist Visa Exemption Scheme, period of stay 60 days (unlike ผผ.14/30/90 which is referred to bilateral agreement 14/30/90 days) and ม.17 is referred to IMMIGRATION ACT, B.E. 2522 (1979), Section 17: In a special case, the Minister, by the approval of the Council of Ministers, may permit any alien or any group of aliens to enter and remain in the Kingdom under certain conditions, or may grant exemption from complying with this Act in any case.

This new expansion of the visa-free scheme (93 countries) is enforeced by IMMIGRATION ACT, B.E. 2522 (1979), Section 17.
